I suppose there is also a possibility that dissident Yorkshire independence terrorists could have rigged the stand with explosives... I mean, could be any number of reasons.
If there was a realistic chance of that happening the media wouldnt be allowed in and I would argue you couldnt safely open the Ponty or North stand either. Also it wouldn't have been granted a safety certificate last month He has had 3 weeks now and we get a different story every week...: - its made of wood !!! FFS its had a wooden floor and seating for the last 130 years how is that now suddenly more of a fire risk that its been for the last few seasons - There is a hole in the floor - well if its a wooden floorboard thats quite an easy fix - The turnstiles are only waist high which is a problem if you have mobility issues. As most of the West standers are quite old and Ive never seen anyone struggling to get through thats quite a strange one. How is a waist high turnstile worse than a full height one - Im genuinely curious, but in any case its hardly a reason to close the stand - worst case access through the Ponty turnstiles at the corner of grove street This is all coming over as either Its all a bit of a faff - easier to just close the stand No mention of what the plan is to make it fit for purpose either or any possibly timescale Im missing the transparency bit here sorry to bang on but I get more annoyed every time we get a new clarification
was it or was it Dane Murphy - just trying to ensure at least one club were below Forest this season?
That's probably because it's not clarification we're getting it's just another set of excuses because the previous ones have been picked apart and rejected by the fans. I believe he said the fans should stop questioning the club's motives well my answer to that is stop giving us the need to question the club's motives.
I can't understand how it's anymore dangerous than any other wooden stand in the football league. Sounds like they've no intention of reopening it any time soon as, like you say, it's a bit too much effort. I suspect this will be my last season ticket.
Im almost speechless if he actually told us to shut up and do as we are told I hope you are misquoting or taking something out of context Me and my dad have just been evicted from our seats which we have had for 25/15 years mid season and into significantly inferior ones and still dont have any good explanation as to why of course we will question why and speculate on the reasons something that should be fairly easy to explain isnt
I was taught as a kid that the more you change the story, the more you are not telling the truth. So far i think we are on the third version? Unfortunately due to this and many other statements in their tenure, we, as fans are a very dubious bunch. They only have themselves to blame. Lets see what they peddle next season when they require monies for season tickets. I do have some sympathy for this guy but I expected nothing more (or less) than sound bites and sentences that tell us nothing and in a round about way!
Its not even a wooden stand - its a concrete and steel stand, its only the flooring and seating that are wood thats all I guess most of our homes are massive fire risks with all those wooden floors and chairs
To add context, and again I wasn't there so I can't say this with 100% certainty, but I believe this was more linked to the continuing questioning of their motives and intentions for the football club. I don't think he was meaning they shouldn't be challenged on decisions they get wrong, just some of the general rumours that circulate. The counter to that though is that if we knew more about why decisions were made there wouldn't be that deep feeling. But then the counter to that is that for some people that feeling has been around since day one.
^This, as is owning the ground with the so called covenant and paying what, presumably they initially agreed to, for the club. BFC - Barnsley Faf Club.
I find it deeply worrying that a CEO who the day before, has spent time with supporter groups facing the same sort of questions, is unable to answer some pretty straight forward questions, has to be prompted by someone at his side a couple of times and answered "i don't know" a further 2-3 times. Extremely unimpressive performance.
That’s true but as one of the patient fans and being willing to give benefit of any doubt . I’m still waiting for this investment they promised . I know they said they weren’t gonna do anything stupid but up to now they just haven’t done anything with any sort of conviction . The term invest imo is putting capital in to reap the rewards the investment has sown . So far as I can see it’s generate the money without investing the necessary funds and if any left then we may invest . I may have got this wrong but that’s how it seems to me after four years and we still no further forward .
Right this second we're no further forward. But that sentiment wasn't there six months ago was it? It looked like we'd progressed on and off the field, which leads you to having to start pointing the fingers at anyone involved in what is proving to be a disaster of a Summer for the football club.
No it’s not the disasters of the summer it’s these statements that’s coming out . The initial statements we gonna invest but not do anything stupid ! Ok fair enough I can see and agree on that invest steady and healthy keep it real etc . Then after four years of seeing managers , players being sold for good money along with the John Stones Windfall and then nothing ! So if all this money that’s come in last few years isn’t enough to encourage them to invest then how much are they gonna need ?? Because what I can see club without investment ain’t gonna generate enough and if we relying on transfers to invest and we ain’t got enough with what’s gone then we ain’t progressing IMO . Speculate to accumulate ,not necessarily on over the top priced players but on infrastructure etc . I noticed they mentioned about the players from our run last season not generating interest but never mentioned the increased ST sales and enthusiasm from the town , that shies there priorities and who they think about imo .
