I too felt great sympathy for him, when he walked out to join in the applause for the fans, only to be met by a chorus of boos. He is doing a terrible job at Oakwell, but he is a human being, with feelings, and it was out of order to boo someone who is coming to thank you. I think he should be relieved of his duties, but I bear him no ill-will at all on a personal level. He presented a very sorry spectacle, when he set off, completely alone, on the long walk back to the tunnel.

Yeah, don’t get me wrong - I’m not excusing his him. But there might other things too.

I.e. Like the board said he’d get more coaches, a couple of players etc. and he didn’t. So he might feel some of the blame isn’t fully his.

If that was the case, then fair enough. The majority of folk on here would do the exact same.

There's also the mental health of the squad which at the minute clearly is suffering.
At the minute Schopp seems to be on his own island. At some point you've got to speak with the players in a honest way. His way isn't working, he's got speak with senior players and come up with ways to win. Keep the coaching staff and team on side. If that means changing style and formation to accommodate the players so be it. Instead he looks alone, sticking to the same approach.
It takes a leader to delegate and change approach. It's not a bloody weakness.

The truth is that Schopp did walk out to clap the fans and turned round to back alone to the dressing room when the chorus of boos began.

He came on the pitch to shake hands with players who were already being clapped long before Schopp got there. Then after he had shook hands with everyone he turned and walked off and then and only then did he start getting booed.

A losing manager at Barnsley would never get booed if they've from day 1 tried to engage with them.
Like I've previously posted, he seems to be very insular. It might be a cultural thing, but our previous Germanic managers have been extremely emotional and animated. They loved the interaction with the fans, Mr Stendel included extracurricular activities with fans.
I do wonder how he came off in his interview. Can imagine Daniel and Strubers were very detailed but high energy. Val's I'm guessing was positivity on steroids.

On a personal level I feel for Schopp, I really do, it doesn't look like he wants to be here, no family around etc.
However the reality is that's he's not very good at his job. He is quite possibly one of the worst BFC managers/head coaches we've ever had. Appreciate he wasn't dealt a great hand but he's made no fight of it and looks completely out of his depth. His superiors should act now and bring his short tenure to a quick close before its gets very ugly.

I want him gone as a Head Coach but feel for the guy as a fellow human being. Like all of us he will have feelings and emotions, and possibly few friends to share them with here, Apart from his inability to build a rapport with the fans he does seem a gentle guy - the club appointed him and they also have a ‘duty of care’ which includes handling his departure with dignity!

He reminds me of a Sunday league manager , he picks the team on match days but has little impact on training or tactics .

I feel for Schopp. I really do. I think he's been completely thrown under the bus and I can't imagine how difficult it must be to be in a place that doesn't like you, where the culture is pretty alien and you don't have a single person you know and trust to work alongside or to go home to.

It's now on the board to do the right thing.

The problem with Schopp is he is in a hole and still digging furiously trying to get to the earth's core - he only has plan a which is clearly not working, the fans know it, the players know it but seemingly the board do not know it - the boil needs to be lanced pdq to have any chance of staying in this division.

I never want any coach sacked to be honest. I'm not sure sacking him will do a great deal. And I'm very disillusioned with several of the players. As i said in another thread, the least you do as a player of BFC is try.

I'd sack Brittain and Helik gladly right now for their disgraceful performances and complete lack of pride or effort.

But we're at a point where the only thing we can do readily is change coaches and employ a full compliment of coaches and analysts to give that coach a chance.

I think our current issues are failings higher up the chain than Schopp tbh.

Just the comment the board need to do the right thing made me think you are now wanting change. Which suprised me as your usually one to say how we could have won and we were unlucky etc

Surely a new manager one who had the players backing and a change from 343 would be positive.

Brittain has been a shadow of himself last season but has publicly criticised the style of play and training. Helik has been poor past 2 games but before wasn't bad. What do you make to cauleys performances?

On the chances in the game, we should have won. Sadly, the players were going through the motions and didn't care they conceded 3 goals in our biggest derby game of the season. No effort to close down, block, tackle, track. Absolutely shocking and that is more unforgiveable to me than anything else.

Woodrow was nowhere near our worst player. He tried. But he's not a target man. Just like Bradshaw wasn't when he was played up top on his own by Heckingbottom. His lay off to Hondermarck in the build up to Iseka's goal was sublime.

Woodrow was shocking especially 1st half couldn't find a red shirt, ran asif he was pulling a trailer worst striker on show yesterday for me.

And we had chances to score more but so did sheffield United against a Fulham or west brom it would have been a cricket score.

We had around 25% possession in the first half. And when we did have the ball it generally finished in touch or was lumped up front. I'm not sure what you expect of him when we play that way.
