Schopp has to play a part. But we have less coaches than last year and he hasn't been allowed to bring his own team in. That can't be good. We had our sports science and analysis teams depleted over the summer. You can't pin all this on Schopp. Well you can if you want, but it doesn't take account of the wider shitshow thats playing on repeat.
Right, fair enough - but did the players all just forget what they were doing last season to achieve that level of fitness? I always say this, as far as professional athletes go, I think footballers are really some of the worst. When you compare them to the levels of intrinsic discipline found in other sports, it's just pathetic.
One thing i have noticed, at varying levels, the alleged conway convo with a rogue fan, the CEO, the coach is that there is a suggestion we can't play high press with the subs change (even though we did it before under Stendel and Struber pre covid). I wonder who is behind that assertion? Our head coach, the sports scientists, the owners, some other person we don't know about? As for the players, theres probably a ceiling of fitness they can get to without support, analysis and individual planning. Only they will know if they arent putting in all the effort in that regard, as well as on the pitch too.
Compared to Olympians definitely. I read Ben Ainsley's autobiography and he was racked with guilt having a burger!
I I agree with this. He’s not cut out for this job. Best just resign & pick up his career back home..
Not blaming him for everything he should have never been appointed in the 1st place awful appointment from the hot bed of football Austria. You can't blame lack of staff for andersons injury or Morris, and what is wrong with Benson? Has he got long covid? Is he injured? Does anyone know?
He needs to go. The OP is someone who doesn't post speculative stuff. We need new owners, but no idea how that is going to happen now we are in this position. The fans have been treated terribly & apart from Derby's 12 point deduction we are bottom of the league. We will be soon anyway.
Bet he had a personal coach paid for by sport England through. There’s no way a 22 year old lad knows enough about nutrition, fitness and sports science in general to devise their own training regime while effectively fitting it into the team training. Any lack of fitness is down to the club unless a player is deliberately sabotaging plans given to them. And it seems a bit of a co-incidence that the entire first team are not match fit.
It's a very sad state of affairs that we've slipped so far backwards after such a good season. I still believe that we've got some very good players that could get us out of this mess but they need the right support and guidance to do it.
Very helpful, I'd just like to be kept in the loop. If he's fallen out with schopp, long covid, injured it would be nice to know and when he may be back.
Genuine question- How much of the training issue is down to Schopp, and how much is down to the remaining coaches/change in back room staff? The coaches all work together, and usually feed-back to the Head Coach. Surely that should be the case? Or is this showing a void which AM previously filled? I know he wasn’t your favourite person, but as a pure coach and feeding back to the manager, that seems to be missing??? The captain would normally raise an issue too, either directly or via an assistant? I’m not a Schopp fan, but I also think he’s been dealt a bad hand by all the back room changes and his own trusted coaches not being able to join. It doesn’t excuse everything, but it’s certainly played it’s part.
