He softened his stance slightly on the interview we did. Joked about ruining how well he was thought of but then said never say never - providing you’re allowed the tools to do the job. At which point he mentioned forcing Stendel to sell Kiefer Moore when he was the top goal scorer.

So basically ruled out on two counts then.

Well at least we now have something to march to.

Taking stock, we need to overcome those who have had if from the horse’s mouth he wouldn’t want the job, those who fear his presumed inevitable failure would reduce his stock from hero to zero, those who insist he’s past it and, of course, our pesky owners who are likely to recoil at his lack of Austrian heritage and insistence that he bring in some half decent players.

Well, no one said it was going to be easy, but there appear to be enough ‘never say never’ horse’s mouth reports to get us off the ground, every reason to believe that as the very antithesis of the inert and uninspiring incumbent he would kick start a revival, get the best out of the players and generate a much needed feel good factor which, notwithstanding non-Austrian ancestry, might even appeal to our most blinkered of owners if only on a financial level, a factor I would like to think might also loosen the purse strings come January and allow Mick to pick his men to keep us up.

Pie in the sky? Maybe, but sometimes things are just meant to be. The stars are aligned, the fates have conspired, forget never say never, it’s now or never!

And if it all goes wrong it wasn’t for the lack of trying and let’s face it, we’d all still love and revere Mick just as much as ever.

We all got in your previous post that you were saying no to Mick, no need to apologise unless you have changed your mind...

One of those dummies they use for set piece practice would do a better job than Schopp.. They're not being used on the training field.
Would do a better job than Conway too.
