Huge fan of sci-fi/fantasy books, and read a lot.

Also a major history fan, and very specifically a historical wargamer. The collection basically fills an outbuilding having collected and played for close to 40 years.

Second sport is GAA, basically Gaelic Football. Involved with my local club and probably the only "English" GAA referee in Cork, if not in the whole of Ireland :)

Too many interests to mention but amazed how many things a lot of us have in common.

We discovered Northumberland last year and loved it, can't wait to get back. Also can't believe it took us so long to try it. Beadnell, Alnwick, Amble, Crastor, Dunstanburgh, Lindisfarne.
They'd be the most popular beaches on earth if the weather was guaranteed, as well as being the most beautiful.

Also, not a hobby as such but I love learning, and there is nothing more fascinating than spending a couple of quiet hours on Wikipedia, choosing some random semi-interest and branching off on the various hyperlinks as you find something else you want to know more about.

    Beer
    Wine
Walking (Dales / Lakes / local countryside)
The Algarve, and trying to break the world record for visiting the place
    Photography
    Lapsed keen cyclist
    Lapsed football fan
    Cricket
    Reading (wikipedia)
Family history (made progress thanks to a couple of folks on here)
    Yorkshire
    Yorkshire History
    Yorkshire cricket
    Yorkshire food
    Local history
My kids - even though they are grown up (ish) now I hope I never fully let go and stay involved. A lifelong project!!
    Music - very varied interests
    Autumn
    Winter
    Saving for retirement
    Beer

I casually mentioned in my extraordinarily subtle manner.... about Northumberland and got a pretty decent response. Our wedding anniversary is late September, so we tend to go away then, so I reckon we might start looking for a cottage let and see if anything comes up that we like the look of.

I mean we'll likely end up somewhere else as thats what usually happens, but we can try for nothing!

    Go on then, I'll play....

...Used to be into electronics, but things have changed big time now, thermionic valves just don't cut it anymore (unless you're into real hi-fi), wish I'd kept abreast of things. Got back into photography because of the emergence of digital cameras - at least it gets me out. Used to play bridge in tournaments, miss it a lot, like to get back into it. Also like american pool (9 ball), seeing how I can't cut it at snooker anymore. Used to love travelling too, but that's curtailed at the moment.

So combining the passion for photography, travel and drinking beer.... only took me 20 bottles to get this one hic...

Once upon time, playing football (enthusiastically but badly) and badminton - but an unstable ACL and arthritic big toe (probably from all the toe nibbers!) have put pay that completely.

Now I collect silicone horror masks - weird I know:D

Watching American football, both NCAA and NFL.
Big PC gamer, WoW, EU4, Stellaris & Football Manager mostly.
Used to watch quite a bit of ice hockey and baseball but the games mostly aren't at convenient times.
Browse a lot of Reddit & this place, not sure if that's a hobby.
Aside from that I'm always looking after the kids. I have meant to start a model railway or start playing American football or cricket again, but I can never find the time.

I think that the sporting event I'd most want to go to in the world is the All-Ireland final. Looks absolutely immense.

I'm really enjoying reading this thread and it's true, a lot of us have a lot in common.
I'm fully with the Northumberland appreciation group. Been up there many times. Similar with Scotland which I've done the length and breadth of with the golf clubs.
Computer games. I've been plsying FIFA manager 2009 for 12 years now as I was able to hybridise to produce the sort of game I actually always wanted. It does mean changing team names and transferring the stats onto an excel spreadsheet on the laptop which the other half finds highly amusing.
I've always loved reading and, being a bit of an anorak at times, I have a list of every book I've read since 1973.
Travel has always been near the top of the list. We're hoping to go over to stay with Sionnach's sister in Colombia for a couple of months after Christmas.
We've become Netflix bingers over the last few years. Currently going through The Walking Dead.
I've started painting and sketching again recently.
    Walking here on the peninsula.
Above all spending evey day with Sionnach. She's amazing.
Can't complain really looking at that lot though I usually find something to moan about. :)

I have been twice to the AI Football Final - one loss which was heartbreaking, but the win in 2010, with our club man on the team, was like no sporting event I have ever been too.

I have the type of personality where I'll get obsessive about a new hobby and pursue it relentlessly. Occasionally, one of them sticks and it becomes a long-term one, while I then repeat the process with something else. There are about 10 part-persued ones still in the wings waiting for me to 'find the time'.

The last one that properly stuck was beekeeping, which started as a chance Zoom conversation at the start of lockdown with a couple who kept them. I then spent 2 months obsessively reading books and watching YouTube videos to convince myself that it was feasible before taking the plunge and buying a colony. Picking them up from the store was literally the first time I'd been near a colony of bees.

Just coming to the end of my second season now and am hoping to get 4 colonies safely over-wintered from the back garden (3 via natural expansion, 1 being a wild swarm I collected from a neighbours garden). I've taken and passed the first level of assessment in beekeeping (mainly as a sense check to ensure that my self-taught knowledge was upto scratch) and I've extracted just over 80 jars of honey from them this year, so am starting to pay back the initial investment.

One of the better 'mad hobbies' I've decided to try out over the years, and in the top 3 of those that have stuck.
