Yes a budget all about tax cuts.... when in actual fact this year has seen the biggest tax increase in 50 years. The media is complicit in this god awful ****. The very same group supplying the government stats and info to base the entire budget on, saying brexit was going to be twice as catastrophic than the biggest global pandemic ever.... and not one mention of it in the budget. And when asked about this, Sunak said 'its there opinion'. Were ****** here guys, well and truly and the majority of this country are clapping them on from the sidelines with their only defence... 'at least its not corbyn... and i hate the french'.
Nearly 14 million people voted for this **** shower. So that's what we get. But at least we got brexit done!
A Labour like budget raising taxes for the poorest and lowering taxes for bankers. Your usual levels of fact checking again
Sunak has got to have attended the school for silly walks just watch him he's just like one of the Monty Python team.
Imagine if we'd not voted for Brexit, 4% negative contraction as a result. Covid's caused a 2% negative contraction. Yet we're potentially in for just above 1% growth. 5-7% growth if Covid had been handled properly and we'd not self harmed ourselves financially. Now that would help sort out social care, maybe put more properly paid police on street. Oh actually build new hospitals not new wings and try and claim they're new hospitals.
A fantastic chancellor who has bailed out those who need it and a lot who didn't. A surprisingly generous budget under the circumstances but not surprisingly people always want more. The next PM in waiting .
Yes, those who need it, like he gave his own constituency above £40 million in funds because it was more needy than Towns like Barnsley.
Lovely how he helped out the long term sick and disabled who are on UC and have just had the uplift removed....oh, hang on a minute....they never got a mention
Everyone up to mid-earners are worse off in this budget. The richest MP in the house of Commons writes a budget to make the poor worse off and the rich richer, is there a surprise there? Meanwhile some ordinary people believe the bulls hit that he's done a good job.
Listening to BBC News this morning, I heard the reporter refer to 'billions of extra funding for Universal Credit' - presumably referring to the change to the taper. Like so much of what we see today, it brought to life in stark terms the line from 1984: "who controls the past controls the future." It's barely a month since the UC budget was cut by 5x the amount that was reinvested in the budget, yet the Telescreens can tell you that it has been lifted with sufficient authority that many will accept it readily. So we see through it because we can remember a month ago, but how much longer until we find we can't show or evidence that, because the news outlets changed the history? Do they even need to if our collective attention spans are so short that we don't recall, or don't relate what we're told today with what happened a month ago? It's the same with Brexit. Every adverse outcome that 'remoaners' suggested might happen was dismissed as 'project fear,' and yet when those exact things have happened the party line is "we told you this would happen but you didn't prepare for it." And millions upon millions move seamlessly with that position, simply because the tribalism built following the referendum means that to accept that there might be any downside is to admit defeat or personal weakness. We live in Orwellian times It feels impossible to pick a side Insanities that dance and hide The truth becomes a broken lie Everywhere you look, everywhere you turn The future fights the past, the books begin to burn I'll walk you through the apocalypse Where me and you could co-exist Everywhere you look, everywhere you turn The future fights the past, the books begin to burn Words wage war, meanings being missed I'll walk you through the apocalypse
Ah but he's promised his mates to cut them before the next election hasn't he? It's nakedly saying "don't worry lads I'll bribe all the gullible voters come election time to get us back in."
Love it when the Tories go on tour up north. You can see it's like Lenny Henry or Billy Connolly visiting Africa for Comic Relief to them.
