    Been here since Monday and now can't get out.
    Roads are all flooded and bridges unsafe, or so they say.
    If you could airlift some food and beer it would be appreciated, we could be here for a while.

    I'm supposed to be going to Dalton-in-Furness next Wednesday... if you're still there by then can you let me know Tuesday night if it's worth me setting off?

    Seriously though, hope you get back in one piece, sooner rather than later!

    You can have a refund if you want. The alternative is to be moved to the arse-end of Hull, or Brighton.

    Good luck I think the floods are going down now and roads are starting to open up - I had a similar problem a few years ago when my only way out from Seatoller (Borrowdale) - which was flooded was over Honister and then Newlands - to Keswick - then the only road open was the A66 to Cockermouth which allowed me to loop around the top of Basenthwaite to Carlisle - Where are you stuck - I saw Wasdale was cut off but if you can get to the 595 I would have thought you could get out if you go northwards
    We are supposed to be going to Seatoller again on Sunday for a few days - may need a boat as I know Borrowdale itself is flooded at the moment

    The main road up the coast now seems to be gradually opening up. The exit road for us is over Duddon Bridge which has just right now !!!! been reopened.
    Anywhere in the Lake District is going to be very dodgy, if not impossible. Ambleside is in a mess. It will take some time for the water levels to drop so if you're coming up then do some serious homework.
    There was over a foot of rain in 36 hours up at Honister so Seatoller may need looking into especially as Keswick is also in a mess !
    A few days will probably see the waters drop but we're going today now the bridge is back open.

    We're meant to be heading to Keswick a week on Sunday for a week and staying at the campsite at the side of Derwent Water which often gets flooded when conditions are this bad so I've been closely monitoring what's happening up there. This morning they've cancelled the bus service that runs from Keswick to Seatoller confirming what you've just said.

    Thanks - I have been following Seatoller closely and saw how much rain they had - over 1 foot in 24 hours - 3rd highest total ( I was there for the 2nd highest. It turned the road down from Honister into a river - I have some video somewhere on my phone and posted to twitter
    It does drain very quickly though once the rain stops so as long as the A66 is OK and doesn't get washed away again I think I will be fine on Sunday - will check before setting off though. Forecast isn't great for the next few days but I think its "normal" rain rather than the spectacular stuff over the last couple of days.
    Hope you have a safe journey and can get out without too much trouble

    A number of years ago we had to leave the campsite 4 days in to a fortnight summer holiday because it was flooded and managed to get a pitch in Scarborough to finish the holiday. No beachwear just walking gear but we had a wonderful end to the holiday!

    Was up in Dumfries yesterday. Absolutely devastating for those alongside the river. Hundreds of properties flooded. The river was retreating to the sea (we arrived as high tide had just finished) at an incredible pace. Went up to Moffat on Monday and the Rain was ceaseless from Tuesday evening and was still relentless when we set off home this morning. Only when we reached low side of Carlisle did we get relief. As Mr Badger says. The north west and surrounding area, up to. and above Glasgow have taken a right battering.

    Work I afraid. Some of my electricians did some work there the other day and the customer says we've turned the voltage down in her property and now her cooker and microwave don't heat food properly and her fridge doesn't get as cold anymore.
    I've tried to explain that this can't possibly be true but to avoid an official complaint I've now got to go and try and placate the lunatic.

    I’d love to know how you turned the voltage down

    Fitted a massive transformer?

    Microwave and fridge probably work fine even on 110 V so you must have turned it down a long way :)
