As ever the club announced the fee as undisclosed when Malik was transferred to Hull. However things can only stay undisclosed until the accounts are published when transfer spending is detailed.

Now this does take a bit of unravelling but in 2020/21 Hull paid a total of £1.65m to acquire players. From a bit of digging it looks like only three players had transfer fees, Greg Docherty (£400k), Lewie Coyle (£350k - bit of guesswork) meaning Wilks brought in £900k.

As background Hull lost just over £8m in the year to June 21. This was on revenue of just £6.8m, the loss of TV money and gate receipts proved crippling. They pay over £1m to lease their ground and £1.2m to finance debts of over £40m. Another financial basket case....

After the Angus MacDonald debacle we should refuse to do any more dealings with Hull unless they pay fully up front and accept a 'sold as seen' clause.

Shouldn't it be hull refusing to deal with us as we were the ones found guilty of withholding information

I may be wrong but I think the £1.65m figure is the amortised figure for that season.

So a player signed for £1m on a 4 year contract last year would contribute £250k to the accounts each of the 4 years of the contract.

If that's right then Wilks' transfer could well be more than 900k!

Wonder if some of that fee and/or any sell-on fee has been waivered in the Angus settlement?

That’s correct for amortisation but the addition to the book value in any one year is the player purchases. Hull kindly express the details in their cash flow analysis.

It's difficult to tell from our accounts given the volume of players we brought in that year. Also known as the best transfer window ever.

To be fair who ever conducted the medical on behalf of Hull City does not exactly come out in a shining light , it still baffles me choose what Barnsley fc disclosed or did not disclose a thorough medical in this day & age should uncover everything ,plus they could have requested medical records I would have thought from the players own doctors with the players permission .
