I know it's not gonna happen, nor would want it to, but has there been a time when we've been looking and he's been out of work?
I can imagine Mrs Big Mick today. "Lift yer feet up while I hoover, and take yer plate and mug in the kitchen, I'm not yer bloody slave. It's about time you got dressed in a morning and started looking for a job. Two vacancies at least today. And get a bl00dy shave" ....... Or something.
If he doesn’t get the job now I think it’s safe to say he never will. I’ve no idea If it will ever happen, or even if it SHOULD happen, but I wouldn’t mind seeing him try. Then bring Moore and Vaulks with him first chance he gets.
The owner's don't want a 'hands on training pitch old school' gaffer. Terry Nutkins posted about his Dad. A club legend but him, Redders, Macca etc would have no chance ..... shame like but true.
Mick, Redders and Nicky the dream team. Won't happen but the owners would buy themselves some serious browny points if they appointed them. Also Mick has had TC with him everywhere he's coached for the past 20 years.
Surprised nobody mentions Dave Watson as an option when referring to old boys as options. Good pedigree as a coach and currently A/m at Southampton.
Good shout, they've got a good set up at Southampton. Might be able poach some eager youthful backroom staff as well.
It’s a fair question, I would guess for the opportunity of being the main man. Didn’t one of our more recent managers leave a club that had recently been in Europe.
The only person linked is Redfearn. That was a few weeks ago with the Yorkshire Post. Lazy journalism?
Steve Agnew is another one with a great coaching pedigree. Always been a number two. Still at Newcastle but for how long? Wonder if he'd fancy a crack at being top dog.
He’s said a couple of times, that he didn’t want to risk tainting his Barnsley legacy.. personally, I wouldn’t mind him coming, if only til end of season. The damage is already done, so he can’t really fail. & if he kept us up, he would only add to the legacy.. He would definitely get some fight out of team, though it wouldn’t be pretty.? Maybe bring a more footballing assistant with him? .
There’s absolutely nothing in his managerial career or M.O that would attract the vision of our owners. We need someone prepared to supply positional requirements and leave recruitment to the spreadsheet team, ie to be a coach not a mini dictator. We need someone prepared to fit into our preferred playing style, pressing. I really don’t know why anyone would think Mick would either want to work under those conditions or that the board works bother looking at him in the first place.
Mick Mccarthy has just been sacked. That will be raw for him. He'll no doubt want a break. I think the timings all wrong. Can't see it.
