Coming to something when the Government are demanding action. I really hope that there are large-scale changes and a re education of what racism is and how to combat it.
Link here... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/59137092 They thought they could sweep it under the carpet but I think a few people are going to be shitting themselves over the coming weeks. Yorkshire's response has been nothing short of disgusting.
They want relegating in the championship and a season ban from the Blast unless they take immediate and transparent action against the culprits.
It is appalling that no one has been disciplined for such long standing racist behaviour. Is it too much to hope that the membership will do the right thing and vote out those who think that racist is not serious enough nough for people to be disciplined/sacked?
I'll say this, if Monk Bretton Martyn and Andrew 'got previous' Gale don't like being mentioned I'll see you in court. Let's all put our hands on that biblical text and tell the whole bloody truth.
The day of reckoning is coming folks, I love my County and adore the game of cricket. However how many of us have seen black, Asian and working class white lads get shafted by the county we love? This isn't me trying to deflect the blatant racism, but showing the entire set up is and has been rotten to the core for decades. We also need to look closer to home. How many black and Asian cricketers have failed to continue in the sport. How many superstars have England missed out on? Is there any wonder why Yorkshire Asian fans support their ancestral nations?
Good that they are intervening but The hypocrisy of this Govt. knows no bounds, shrouded in allegations of Islamophobia and very little done towards these allegations, yet quite happy to finger point at others
Geniunely surprised that Yorkshire didn't invoke the Generic Response to Claims of Racism (fire a low level coach, place several others on an educational course, pay some money to a local anti-racism charity). The fact that they felt that there was no response required is probably going to lead to mass resignations from the committee. And quite rightly too.
Might be. "Elsewhere in the report, a former Yorkshire and England player - who no longer represents the club - is found to have engaged in behaviour which "amounted to bullying". He is cleared of serious misconduct, however, as the panel concluded his motivations were not racist.".
Have to say, I've not read the report so may not be getting the full picture, but you have to wonder, based on what is being reported on, who actually did the investigation and produced this report? In what world is bullying not serious misconduct?! The same world where racist abuse is merely banter apparently.
You've got Michael Vaughan staying quiet, and playing the victim when asked about white privilege. Then you've got Simon Jordan piping up promoting the banter line. It's also worrying that some folk are defending the use of the P word, saying its no different to using terms such as Brit, Scot, Aussie etc.
Just heard the interview on Talksport. Want the individuals named and sacked. Also they want to remove all international cricket from the county.
Glad that they haven't in some ways. Heads can't fail to roll now and those who replace them should have the common human decency of inclusively and comradeship. Did none of them listen to what Micheal Holding had to say about being a black cricketer for eg in the summer of 2020?
