So I take it you've tried it then in the alhambra lol.....
Suppose it might explain the amount of flat noses in town

Actually it's rank shortsightedness of those who passed the Glassworks plans. I believe the original concept was to have 24/7 access to Lambra Road so that those from that side of town didn't have to walk / cycle right round the Alhambra Centre. There wont even be access round the railway side of the Glsssworks when THE bridge and associated works are done.

The original concept ideas didn’t include a multi-storey car park. The designs then didn’t have as many buildings so the idea was to open up the Lambra Road side to provide alternative access to that side of town. What’s worth considering is that these designs came before the bridge, and before any conversations with prospective anchor tenants had occurred. The feedback from prospective tenants was that additional parking was a necessity to achieve lettings, so the plans were revised. Since then, the bridge design has been adapted. Access has still been provided, though I must admit I was shocked to see shutters on there because the council never suggested this would be closed off outside peak times. I guess the fear is that it’s quite an enclosed entrance close to service areas and could attract anti-social behaviour.

There aren’t any residential properties on Lambra Road and access from Pontefract Road will be just as easy via the bridge. Those approaching from Sheffield Road would still need to navigate around the Alhambra in one direction or the other so I wouldn’t say it’s a major loss.
