Unbelievable,we finally win a game and all some can do is find something else to complain about and as for the quote(esp after the rubbish we watched last night) well it was better than the last few games.
It's all part of my Entertainment Index - number of near misses on Oakwell Lane - percentage of mouth scolded by Bovril - how close I got to half time draw Anyway - the OP was way back in Sept
The traffic management is becoming more and more shambolic, both to get into and out of the ground. Each match it seems more and more roads are being closed which throws more traffic onto the available routes. Good example is some idiot's recent decision to shut the slip road from Harborough Hills to access the away fans car park Thus negating all the brown signs for away fans to follow. I park at a friends on Queens Road and have to drive to the alhambra roundabout then up pontefract road and bala street to get there. Last night all the Derby fans were diverted up to Bala Street which is full of pedestrians having taken a circuitous route to get that bottleneck. Egress is now only via the Alambra roundabout or down Pontefract road and then up oakwell Lane. It is like someone has decided to cause the maximum mayhem and pollution they possibly can. It isnt a shortgae of staff either. I noticed last night four staff stood at a new barrier at the top of belgrave road making cars turn right to go down Queens Road with the exiting away fans (the same Queens Road nobody is allowed to drive up to get into the ground). Just crackers
Is that closed specifically for football reasons? I noticed it's been closed every match recently but assumed they were doing roadworks
Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but there's double yellow lines on there and folk park on the pavement. How is that right? Why don't they get a ticket? You'd think the residents would be pretty pissed off with it. I'm sure some of the cars I've seen coming down after games are going to collect people from the match also. Must be the same mentality which affects parking around schools!
In 2012/13 the club requested for post match road closures, on more than one occasion. Those requests were declined by South Yorkshire Police. Anyone who has been to Anfield have seen post match road closures. So it can be done.
That quote was from Forest game. Just reposted as last night was terrible up there. Loved the game sore throat this morning from all the shouting and celebrating. Still think that header in 93rd minute will go in (100% would have if unlucky Marcus was in charge).
About time the temp on the warm water was turned down at catering as well because hot drinks are more scolding drinks and take an age to cool.
That would rely on the police or traffic wardens actually doing something useful for a change. I can partially excuse the police because they had a match to police but wardens must know that this happens regularly and should be out in force on match days.
Oakwell Lane has been like that since I started in 1978. Apart from the new-builds it is pretty much the same experience and sights it was back then. Common sense has usually prevailed over the years, and although there are a few more n0b'eds in cars these days I can't see the logic of changing anything. As long as word gets around that the odd driver has taken a good shoe-ing, order will remain. Not a 'women driver' rant, but there are a hell of a lot of cars, with a fair share of ladies, who park up at the bottom of Oakwell Lane / front of the motorhome place who are obviously there to pick fans up and make a quick getaway. I'm not sure that is the brightest idea. Cars trying to overtake them have got fans to contend with, as well as traffic coming the other way.
It's incredible, it's almost as if they think by parking on the pavement they're not on the yellow lines! How's your road trip going, is the new gearbox ok?
Traffic management a joke, access to & from the ground an absolute nightmare, west stand not fit for purpose (according to the club)! So what’s the solution? New ground in a more accessible place?
Back home now, gearbox is fine but exhaust is exhausted.... Stayed at Worsbrough (TPT car park) the night before the Blunts game. 1 night at Brayton (near Selby) to see Anne's daughter's family. 2 nights in Lancaster to see my son and wife. 1 night at Southport. 2 nights at Hoylake. 1 night at West Kirby where we did this walk.
