He believed we were a league 1 club trying to operate in the championship...problems started when he started to hint at this.
To be fair the problems started when his best players were sold from under him & he brought in former players that weren't up to the job.
There's always this misconception that Keith had his team sold from under him. In the window where he had us quite high up the league, it was 1 player who was sold. And Keith said himself that said player wouldn't have signed in the first place without a release clause in his contract. Drinkwater wasn't our player, and the rest of the midfield simply got injured.
Tough job keeping the Iron in the league. Not long since they were outplaying us at Glanford Park and our fans were singing “we’re **** and we know we are”
The fact remains though, Archey, that whether they were our players or not and whether they were injured rather than sold he lost a significant part of his team. Ismael got lauded, quite rightly, last season for giving us one of our few genuine shots at promotion to the top division. If Hill's team had stayed together maybe he would be in the same bracket.
We lost 4 key players. Loan rules were different then. Are you playing devil's advocate, or being serious? I found Keith Hill tiresome in the end & he got the sack, but you are having a laugh if you don't get he got shafted. We are in a similar position at the moment to some extent, maybe worse. I doubt any decent manager would consider us, given the boardroom debacle & the ground situation.
Thought he acted terribly while here. Does a good job in the lower leagues and I'm not underestimating that, he clearly works well on a limited budget. But continually buying the same players from the same agents in a constant merry-go-round, I personally think there's a lot of questions there. Particularly when it's the same players whether in the Championship or League 2.
Scunny to sign Matt Done, Scott Wiseman, Jim McNulty, Tom Kennedy, Chris O’Grady, Dorothy Perkins, Stephen Dawson, Cris Dagnall etc
Th'suppowerters are too buzeh lukeing back at th'glowery durz of <whenever Scunthorpe played above League One level.> Thu'rr obsessed wiv et. The füćķîňğ wäñķēř. I hope they finish 23rd - just above Joey Barton.
All he meant was that your club's history counts for nothing in the current season and doesn't put any points on the board. For some reason, folk got upset by that, either because he expressed himself badly, or because they misunderstood him, or because some folk are too touchy by half.
