The last thing I'll say on the matter is Adil Rashid's next interview will be interesting because he either destroys YCCC and several of his current and former team mates by agreeing with Rafiq and Naved or destroys Rafiqs credibility by saying it didn't happen. But again the question remains if it did happen to Rashid too or he witnessed it happening to others why is he still a Yorkshire player because he could walk into another county tomorrow and / or make millions just playing 20 twenty cricket around the world.
Ex I can't get my head around black players going to Millwall but they do. Someone has to stick it out to push for change.
Just to be a pedant no cricketers were burned alive at Yorkshire so if my senario is different so is your analogy.
Just to be a pedant *scenario But I'm glad you agree that there are different levels of racism. Yours was unfortunate and probably annoyed you for the rest of the day, maybe week. Azeem came very close to taking his own life.
I feel like you're deliberately avoiding the point which you understand is being made. Would you say that getting punched once by a random stranger is the same as your boss and colleagues taking a swing at you every day?
Ah sorry, I thought you were asking it to downplay the effects or damage of the racism. Apologies if I misread it.
Well maybe they shouldn't go there and say in public that's why they aren't. Maybe if Rafiq, Rashid, Naved, Tendulker, Richardson and any other BAME cricketers who either were subject to or witnessed this abuse had said at the end of their contracts that they wouldn't be signing for Yorkshire again because of XYand Z then this would have been sorted out years ago.
Also go to say having watched the local news the ramifications of no Test Cricket is awful for the surrounding businesses and could drive lots under and the potential loss of about 3/4 of its revenue for the club is also putting it well in the mire.
Yes, but if the correct actions are taken by YCCC expediently, it shouldn't be too long before the sanctions are removed.
If true that's both sad, disturbing and disgraceful but again to go back to my original point why keep signing contracts to play under those conditions.
I have been abused and called names all my life in a factory environment, think its called banter ,some people have ended up crying,in places I have worked you just have to take it or you cant earn a living, probably what the Asian lads felt at the time ,glad its been called out in whatever form of bullying the verbal assaults take place
If BAME players came out in public and said right we aren't signing for say Millwall because of racism then straight away the FA would be forced into taking action. Millwall would find it very hard to get corporate sponsorship and I'm sure Sky and BT would have to think twice about their TV money going there. Just look how quickly the sponsors pulled out of YCCC this week
Because he was exposed to systemic racism for his entire career. He's made it clear a number of times during his tweets and interviews on the subject that he was continually persuaded this was normal and 'just how things are'. He's been very open about the fact that for a long time he believed HE was the problem and it was only when it drove him almost to the point of suicide that he realised he had to face up to it. Standing up in the way he has took incredible bravery.
If Saka, Rashford and Sancho refused to play for England would that teach the racists who abused them after the Euro final a lesson?
I wouldn't work in an environment that was so toxic it made me suicidal but I thats just me I suppose
