Funnily enough, I found the same last weekend. Went out for the day to Stamford. Quaint, well to do place. Mask wearing percentage was very high. Once done there, we called in down the road in Peterborough - mask wearing, naaah!
Never used a mask never will. My decision up to other people to do so. I love a mask debate myself . As boris said it won't work dont wear a mask but In fact wear a mask haha
Must admit I thought masks were still mandatory in airports and on board aircraft. I assume on board, it is part of the conditions of carriage?
I’m not sure of the link between better educated or wealthier. However many people now work in a place where they are in contact with maskless people throughout the day. I work in an environment where I interact with potentially thousands of maskless people every day. This has made me less inclined to wear one when out and about myself, (unless asked). Maybe what you are seeing in the Beverley/Wakefield divide is a similar thing. I would guess many people in Beverley don’t work in such environments, whereas those in Wakefield are more likely to?
Nowt to do with masks but… I first went to Poland just after the Berlin Wall came down and only national carriers flew there. Some years later, EasyJet and Ryanair started to fly in. I witnessed a fight at Krakow airport where English people were demanding that the coffee bar serve tea. They actually had to shut the place. To quote (and this woman was shrieking), ‘We want tea! We know you’ve got some!” Overheard in a Krakow bar. “Where are you going tomorrow?” “We’re off to Auschwitz.” “Ooooh… have nice time!” I have never been so embarrassed to be English.
To add to this, and this is a really bizarre one, in some of the wealthiest villages and antique shops in the country that I visited (c. 10 or more) they were actively saying we didn't need to wear masks. I think the wealthy are as less inclined to wear one. Or maybe there's just no trend in this area?
Love a good bit of stereotyping on the BBS. Brexit voters? The poor? The uneducated? Perhaps there’s a multitude of reasons people do or don’t wear masks and what’s wrong with society today is the obsession of wanting to group people into categories without having any idea about what actually motivates them.
On my travels I've noticed the same go to a well to do area and more wear masks than don't goto a less well off area and it's the reverse strangely enough despite the evidence that they are more at risk mask wearing in areas where there is a large BAME population is probably the lowest of anywhere and as been throughout the pandemic I actually refused to enter a store in Bradford during the height of it last year because the shop was packed and neither staff or customer were wearing them even though at the time it was mandatory.
Maybe there are lots of reason why but it doesn't alter the facts. Due to my job I travel all over Yorkshire Lincolnshire Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire and all through the pandemic there as been a marked difference in the percentage of people wearing masks in affluent areas than in poorer ones even during the period when it was mandatory. I'm not seeking to stereotype anyone I'm just reporting what my personal experience has been.
Masks are no longer mandatory and people shouldn't be made to feel bad if they no longer want to wear one. I wear one walking around the supermarket but wouldn't wear one to a pub or restaurant. Vaccines are doing their job.
It was just that I was under the impression that after the Brexit lot had got their cunTrY back most foreigners had gone home. If you are from the UK maybe you could type in English and help us all out or are you trying to back up the educated/uneducated theory on masks?
I ain't trying to do nothing. I stated wear one if you want. Don't wear one if you don't want to. The only people who moan are the solid mask wearing people. As for un educated theory. The only theory aka conspiracy theory going on now is the people who nod their head to the news and believe everything they see on the news.
Be honest you're more p1ssed because you're a sheep and quoting my posts because deep down you're crying because I ain't falling for the TV b...*****
