The appointment was weird to say the least. Before Shopp our remit was to play high press high intensity footy and the coach and players were recruited accordingly.
I'd agree with the first part to a degree, but I'm not sure our recruitment slots into the style of whoever our head coach of the day is. We've certainly had transfer windows where we've recruited players that haven't fit a system or the coaches wants.
Sadly, whoever came in was always going to be a downgrade on Ismael. We were lucky that he was available, not sure why he lost his job at LASK, but it wasn't anything on the field. They finished 2nd and got to the last 16 of the Europa. He also takes the concept of high press as far as you possibly can, so whoever came in was going to be a tamer version. But Schopp was a poor appointment because he represented a decision to completely change our style of play from something that had worked.
It certainly wasn"t a cheap option if you consider on top of what it cost to bring him here , house him etc & now it will have cost a fair few bob to get rid , lets hope they get the next one right although I have zero confidence that this will happen .
Its the Barnsley way will be weeks, some will say due dilligence blah blah blah, Warnock's never got chance yo go cold , he was still sat in it when Wilder turned up !
Broke covid rules by having Lask train when they should have been under lockdown and I believe they were deducted points for this, so that probably led to letting him go.
