Still don't know why odours been judged on a forward player when he clearly isn't. He is a better wing back than Ben Williams though.
Not sure he’s a wing back either. Think he’d be a decent winger. Can beat a man, can cross, not sure he’s got the defensive ability to be a wing back though.
https://www.expressandstar.com/spor...looking-to-secure-deals-for-their-loan-stars/ They are interested in signing him. I suspect because he's now found his level by dropping multiple leagues other clubs could now be interested in him, which only helps our sale value.
Walsall will be hoping to sign him on a free at the end of the season. Only way we'll get a fee in Jan is if there's any interest beyond Walsall to take him for the second half of the season. Doubt we'll get anything beyond 5 figures for him though.
The thing is, if you look at some of the goals he's scored, he could score them at any level with the right service, and with a bit of confidence. The back heel he scored a few weeks ago was obscene. It was better than the one John Hendrie scored against Sheffield United in the promotion season, albeit less important.
Goes on a long list of players we haven't taken a proper look at or given a chance before getting rid.
No , we want him back here & given a chance with us instead of the poor treatment he has had from both club & fans at Oakwell , some of the things fans put on social media were awful, no wonder the lad has gone away & proved a point , I would like to think who ever holds the reigns here brings him back & gives him a chance .
Then he f cuks us off in the summer on a free anyway. It's also a shame but I think the bird has flown. It's rubbish he'll leave for nowt at the only point he's had any value.
It is rubbish & its down to Mr Schopp & the club, the only chance the lad had was when Schopp played him at wing back at Bolton , & yet we persevere with such as Victor & Frieser who might be popular but are never going score goals , if only a young goals scorer like Miller had been given anything like the opportunities these lads have had then surely he would have progressed & us instead of Walsall would be getting the benefits .
Struber also tried him out at right wing back as well I think. Neither Struber or Ismael felt he was worth much of a chance in the first team. Possibly Stendel as well (can't remember if he was out on loan at the start of 19/20 season). Just because he's having a decent spell at Walsall, doesn't mean he'd do much for us now.
We signed him though because of his potential & the truth is that Walsall are the club now benefiting ,surely we should be bringing him back in january & even if he is out of contract next summer by offering him a further contract any side would still have to pay a fee because of his age, or his development at Walsall means that we have got a player back who can help us beat the drop .
I would imagine the drop in level and possibly the fact that his contract runs out in 7 months is probably the reason for his goal record at Walsall. I wouldn’t want him back here at this level. Good luck to him though. Hopefully he’ll carry on and work back up the football ladder.
In order to be due a fee for him, we have to offer a contract that is the equivalent or higher than his current deal. I'm pretty sure that would be beyond what League 2 clubs would be offering, and chances are, he'd struggle to reject it despite it clearly not working for him at Barnsley.
Slight problem being, we could be in league 1 next year and have a ridiculous number of strikers on our books and be in line to make a colossal and devastating loss. We might be able to shift some players, we might not be able to shift any. Given he's out of contract, for the highly nominal fee we might get, and given we've never given the kid a chance anyway, I'd do the right thing and let him leave. I suspect his mind has already left Oakwell.
That's what I was getting at. Offering an inflated contract on the off chance we might get a fee wouldn't be worth it. If an offer comes in in Jan then accept it, otherwise, just leave him be.
Well lets hope continues to develop & he gets the contract offer from us but if he has a season where he gets 20 goals for Walsall it will not be division 2 teams that will be offering him a contract , he will attract attention from clubs further up the food chain , goal scorers are always in demand.
13 without a goal now and being called out..... https://www.expressandstar.com/spor...triker-george-miller-urged-to-keep-believing/ If he doesn't find the net much in the second half of the season I doubt even Walsall will want him in the summer.
