Adam Hammill showed so much passion and gave us some fantastic moments, i want him as part of our club. There has to be some coaching role he can drop in to, ideally assistant manager for a few years then the top job.
Very good player for us, if not a tad overrated by Barnsley fans in my opinion. Wouldn't mind seeing him join the coaching department, however, saw nothing in him which made me think he was management material.
I realise that we can't re-employ every ex favourite Red although AH certainly falls into that category. But in certain cases and if suitably qualified them im all for bringing a select few home.
Not a chance as manager but i think he'd be great as part of the backroom staff' i think that someone with Barnsley truly at heart has been the thing we've lacked in recent years' we always had that under John dennis and Patrick but since this lot arrived its been very much them and us' remember the great days at wembley with patrick ' hecky and all the lads together as one' just seems like a million miles away now...
forgive and forget, those who are without sin and all that,he as admitted he was suffering mental health problems at time
he is running a kids football academy in Bootle now , so sure he would have time to bob over and help our kids out aswell
Look I get that and I get that he was an incredible player for Barnsley. I understand people fawning over him as a player, but this fawning over him as a person and wanting him in as manager/assistant manager I find a bit odd.
It is odd. There's zero evidence to suggest he could ever be a decent manager, coach or anything else. He was a magnificent footballer for us. As regards fawning over him as a person I doubt that any of us have much of an idea of his character beyond what glimpses he showed us on the pitch and in the odd interview. Those glimpses showed someone who appeared to have rediscovered himself as a person and a footballer after some very low points. He appeared to be very grateful for the chance we'd given him and emotional about the backing from the fans. As I say, I don't know him but those insights and the way he repaid us on the pitch. He'll do for me. A legendary player who gave me some of the very best memories of 50 years following the club. I'd love us to find some role that suited him and us.
I agree. He was a great player for Barnsley fc and a coaching role in some capacity at the club would be good to see.
Spot on, absolutely gave me some of my best memories watching football, that thrashing of Leeds and play off final will live long in my memory thats for sure. Not sure he's ready for management like.
Aye its like not signing Jamie vardy because he had a tag on his ankle when we played a pre season friendly at Stocksbridge
You could have made the same argument about Allan Clarke, Norman Hunter, Danny Wilson, and been wrong but with John Hendrie, Viv Anderson you'd have been right. But you never find out if you don't give them the chance.
Got to agree. There are really very few players who have had such audacity and effort to their game. If the owners ever wanted to truly understand what sort of players fit the Barnsley DNA, Adam Hammill would certainly be one of the prime examples.
