Another unknown with a big fat zero experience of English Football who has to hit the ground running from the off because we cannot afford a settling in period. This would be a very disappointing appointment. The coach he's bringing with him is only 33 as well. Someone with far less experience of English Football telling players how to play English Football. It's not like bringing someone in who's played and managed the game and the squad look up to them for all they have done in the game.

We haven't played "English Football" for several years. It's had mixed results.

Well he's due in Dublin tonight with the Swedish U21s so I guess that might give us a clue.

I love the capitalisation of English Football to emphasise the fact that it's somehow a completely different game and anyone coaching abroad may as well have been coaching tiddlywinks, such is the difference.

Any outsider bringing with him his own coaching staff is going to have a learning curve with the players we can ill afford. Who's left at the club that can say to him "tried that, doesn't work".

He'll get to meet Will Hondermarck, hopefully thinking he's good enough for the first team, playing in midfield.

I see what you mean RedCB, as a recruitment strategy it doesn't make sense. Football as a industry doesn't make sense from my observation, take spending £4 million so far on owning Macclesfield Town.
As the great John Dennis said,
"choosing a football manager isn't an exact science".

We had Danny for longer than a season and he had plenty of experience of English football and of Barnsley both as a player and an assistant manager

From what I can see Asbaghi doesn't have a playing career behind him prior to becoming a coach, which is somewhat unusual, unless it's just missing from his Wiki details.

In itself, it may be of limited relevance as to how good a coach he is, particularly given that our previous coach had one of the better playing CV's of any of our recent coaches. However, I do wonder whether this potentially has greater relevance in terms of building relationships with the playing squad, if there's no meaningful playing career on which a coach can refer back to. It's probably more of a challenge if there are experienced players in the squad, such as Sollbauer, but is still potentially another barrier he'll have to overcome.

I can see it being the sort of thing that potentially comes up when there's a strain on the relationship between players and coaching staff. Hopefully we've got ours out of the way for this season with the obvious disconnect they ultimately had with Schopp, so this won't prove to be an issue.

On the other hand, perhaps this is why Ted Lasso is such a great coach!

My understand he was interviewed previously but not offered the role. I guess it got out that he’d been interviewed and he made a statement.
