We've already donated or committed to donate over 100 million doses abroad. So maybe we're making sure we have enough stocks for future boosters and also factoring in the ability to donate vaccines to the third world.
So as a baby/child/young adult, u get vaccinated against.... Diphtheria Tetanus Whooping cough Polio Hep b Meningitis Influenza Rotavirus Pneumococcal Measles Mumps Rubella HPV So what's one more....
Doesn’t appear so. Especially when the tories inevitably replace Johnson with Sunak. Probably replaced early April. Summer election. Labour hover around 175 - 195 seats. Try to blame Corbyn. What japes.
no difference really. Starmer shown to have lied about not asking permission to do a second job when he was in the shadow cabinet. Chris Leslie renting out his house and claiming tax paying funding for his rent.
Maybe look into what makes up those ordered vaccines before posting absolute ******** that just makes you look like an imbecile. The UK ordered 10s of millions of doses about 7 or 8 different vaccines. This was very early on in Covid when it was not clear which vaccines would be successful. I’d love to know why you think 100 million doses ordered of a vaccine that is not even finished and may never be finished has any bearing on booster shots for a completely different vaccine.
Where do you stop then? And where does Covid sit in terms of risk on that list to that age group? Not everyone who disputes vaccine mandates is an anti-vaxxer. But you'd think that was the case reading this thread.
Personally, I don't see a need to stop, I'd rather have a vaccine that has a minuscule chance of harming me compared to the associated condition. If that means there's 50 things in there so be it. Or we could have left well alone and all had a life expectancy of 40.
But this is harm to you right? Because if the 1 in 1,000 risk of the vaccine is taken as accurate, then to a lot of people the miniscule harm is similar to the miniscule harm of Covid. I'm pro-vaccination by the way but I'm also pro-choice. Not sure I'm pro-six month top ups for a lifetime or the immediate future against something that is right down at the bottom of the risk list, with al other factors considered. I'm definitely not pro-vaccination status being rescinded because you don't get a booster.
To be fair it would almost certainly be a lot more time consuming and expensive to give people an antibody test and only boost the ones who need it than it would be to boost everyone.
Absolutely - not to mention that antibody tests won't be 100% accurate. Sorry, what - 1/1000 risk of what; what risk are you talking about. Indeed - we forget how awful some of the vaccine preventable diseases really are - because we don't see them often - because they are, er, preventable. Measles, you know, that childhood disease that gives you spots - well, that killed 140,000 people - mainly kids in 2018 (global) - if we can prevent deaths and illness through vaccines then we should.
Quite a selfish, I'm alright jack attitude there. I'm over 50, just, but otherwise in good health, but I guess, yes, my age puts me in a more at risk bracket. So yes, this is harm to me, as u put it. But, I believe the nature of covid can be that many are asymptomatic, then passing it on to those that are more susceptible. So it's not as simple as look after no.1 is it. Certainly what I'm seeing at the moment is it's the primary age school kids that are catching it and passing it on to vaccinated parents who then suffer a mild condition and need to be off work for 10 days.
The way I see it is everyone is going to catch COVID at some point and everyone being vaccinated is not going to change that . If your vaccinated what's the difference between you catching it from someone who is vaccinated as apposed to catching it from someone who isn't ? Vaccination does not prevent transmission .
It absolutely isn't this that at all. You said the harm to you, which is a totally fair stance and I understand it, but that level of harm isn't the same for all demographics and age groups of society is it? That's my point.
Apparently it does have a slight impact on transmission but yes generally you're right I believe. The idea of vaccine passports I find very worrying. The reason people should be encouraged to have the vaccine is to help reduce the pressure on the NHS. Especially given all the extra work it's currently delaying with as a result of the last 18 months.
It looks like we are going to be overrun by animals in the near future. https://support.vax.co.uk/zen-pet-cylinder-vacuum-cleaner
And my point is, that's a selfish viewpoint. Absolutely the level of threat isn't the same for all demographics/ age groups, but as a civilized society we care for others too don't we?
