No, I think they’re an ignorant, incompetent, untrustworthy, disrespectful shower of mouldy clown sh*t.
But I still support the lads who play the football & hope they do well..

My neighbours are Swedish and rate our new manager as an excellent coach. However, have reservations how he will do in the championship. We will see.

Time will tell with the appointment I guess. Previous stats look average - but if average means mid-table I’ll take that for now and build on it.

His past appointments clearly show he’s got something about him, so let’s see. Our previous successful managers never had a great track record, maybe except Bassett.

Regardless, we support Barnsley, not a league position.

I see his assistant is Spanish and an exponent of the EkkonoMethod - "a training methodology which objective is to ensure that players are capable of correctly interpreting the game and finding intelligent solutions in the field" o_O

Seriously, I wish them both well and here's hoping they are a success. Welcome to Barnsley Poya & Ferran.

No, he's not. I was just pointing out that it was young for a manager and that he hasn't played professional football, as 90% of coaches usually have.

New manager? I don't see us giving up on the head coach position.

I kind of think this might have been a decent appointment at the end of this season with a full summer for him to get his ideas, style of play and the right personnel to suit it in place. Right now I think the requirement is different - an eye to the short-term, an experienced and proven motivator getting us going all out blood and thunder to keep us up.

Either way I hope that whatever else has been happening the last two weeks there's been an absolute blitz on improving player fitness. I can (just about!) take getting beat by opposition players of higher ability but we should be able to, at the very least, match opponents for fitness (after all we are the youngest squad) instead of half the team falling of a fitness cliff somewhere between 40 and 60 minutes into every game.

For me Schopp should have gone after Blackpool but it was absolutely criminal that he then did sweet FA about fitness levels during the last international break.

It does make me wonder about the change in the Fitness Coach we've had this season and begs the question why our recruitment policy for players (young, up and coming, hungry etc) didn't apply as we seem to have ended up with an ex-Man City crony whose career was on a downward spiral. Maybe unfair but the proof is in the pudding(s - pun intended).

A mate of mine told me that Poya and Joe Wicks are good mates so I reckon we'll see an improvement ;)

Thing is, if he is successful he'll be gone, if he fails he'll be gone.

It's the 6th consecutive appointment where I've had to form an opinion on them based on reading Wikipedia entries, so the process always leave a general feeling of "meh" when they get confirmed.

Of those appointments, the two who generated an element of excitement, based on their records, were Stendel and Val (his being reinforced by his Twitter message to fans on the day of his appointment).

Asbaghi falls into the same category as Morais, Struber and Schopp, which is one of curiosity, but no real optimism. Like Struber and Morais he needs to have an immediate impact on the squad and doesn't have the luxury of time on his side. Hopefully he proves to be more like Struber in this regard.

Its a totally underwhelming appointment, if I'm honest, and my gut feel is that he won't be a success. I hope I'm ultimately proved wrong in this regard.

Welcome to Oakwell, Poya, and good luck. I have a feeling you're going to need it.
