Most Swedish people appear to have some English, think they are taught it from a young age at school.
Making no mention of the fact that 90% of managers who ‘know the league’ have overseen at least one season of underachievement in the league. It’s xenophobia pure and simple, the fear of the outsider overruling any logical thought.
And profitable player sales isn’t dependent at all on our league position? I’d estimate our squad is currently worth a quarter what it was in August, if not less. I’m no fan of the current situation, or the board’s contribution to it. But let’s be logical in our condemnation.
Depressing reading this thread. Poya looks to have great potential, I'm sure a lot of work has gone in to his selection and probably is a very capable coach. We can just welcome him in with a Barnsley boo because he's not a big name British manager. It appears unless we got Wilder, Neil or Warnock we weren't going to be happy. I'm happy with this appointment he could work wonders with these lads, there is no guarantees who ever comes in that's why managers regularly get sacked at every club.
Let’s see if he can motivate these players better. Not sure what he can do About the lack of fitness in some players. Anyone know what his preferred style of play is?
“I don’t care if you’re from Iran.” IT crowd classic, that episode has fallen fowl of the finding offence mob though.
Surely though if you are right & it is do with profitable player sales then these players must have to do the business on the pitch to attract the attention of potential buyers .
When someone states 'just my opinion' you know what follows is going to be complete and utter ********.
Just out of interest I googled Steve Cooper and his Wiki makes interesting reading in that he only played 60 odd games in the Welsh league before moving into youth management. He’s not done too badly in professional football has he? Let’s not write the lad off just yet! PS - I was carp at playing football but still managed a team to a league and cup double!!
I don't care what nationality he is and believe there's only a marginal benefit of 'knowing the league' because it's hardly rocket science to get your head around is it. But what does bother me is that the CEO is more interested in an inexperienced project manager that they can hopefully make money on in a year or two than in actually trying to stay in the division. The appointment is almost an admission that football comes second to profits
We're not making a profit though. And is footballing success more important than having a club? Because if we don't generate money through transfers we're not going to be able to compete at this level as per Archerfield's thread.
I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t. English is widely spoken in Sweden and taught from a very young age. Popular TV shows in English aren’t dubbed which makes a massive difference.
A successful club has more profitable players surely. You seem to be falling into the trap that Khaled set regarding the playoff place players from last season being worth less than this season's strugglers. It's simply not true. Everyone knows that most clubs have to sell some players to make money. I personally believe that it is outright stupidity to include the manager in that and consider him as nothing more than stocks and shares to buy and sell.
