Except one that I don't recall being issued before. And at a time when more of our groundshare discussions have emerged. But don't be alarmed!
Terrorism threat was raised to severe on the 15th Nov. I’d be more alarmed if the club didn’t post stuff like this….. And it’s in-line with National requirements
These are because the government increased the threat level to Severe last week. Now try and find a backpack for your snap & flask that small.
As stated above given the events in Liverpool, yesterday in Winsconsin and the time of year I’d say it’s about the state of the world rather than rumours of a ground share with Bratfurd Northern. Any event now including last week’s remembrance had all roads blocked off with council vans/wagons! Then there’s the concrete Lego blocks to stop idiots driving into crowds.
Tbf the same rules regarding bag size and searches applied to Anfield on Saturday. Hopefully just a temporary measure .
I completely understand WHY they do things but I often feel that these steps are totally counter productive. As a nation we'd much rather put up barriers than break them down. I'm no terrorist but I imagine I'd be much more inclined to attack people who would rather see me dead at the bottom of the sea than allow me to live amongst them, who would rather demonise me than welcome me and who would rather put up concrete barriers than sit down and talk to me like human beings. Barriers and bag searches are needed but they're only needed because as a country we've spent the last 20 years doing our level best to make 2 billion people hate us.
Except if you travel some distance on public transport and want to bring a small backpack for example you now can’t. The max bag size is really quite small and will be a problem for quite a few if rigidly enforced
Wouldn't that be the same at any major football stadium during a severe level terror threat though? It's not a Barnsley thing, is it?
When I watch the Reds away I always take a Rucksack on the train/ to the match. iPad, snap, papers, book (yes I know I travel light). This nonsense just plays into terrorists hands. In an open society no Govt can ‘protect’ it’s people to any great extent. To pretend otherwise is disingenuous and deceitful. An open society is still the best to live in IMO.
