I expect it is - but I was commenting on your post saying implying it wasnt anything unusual - when its a major change. I understand it could be the club has little choice on this but as others have said its playing into the hands of terrorists when it is having such an effect on our lives. I really dont see why a small backpack cant be allowed - its quite possible to search it just the same as a larger handbag
I'm in this position as i travel to home games from a distance away on the train so like to bring a bag with me for the reasons you listed so to potentially not be able to do this anymore is a bit annoying. First the club remove me from my seat in the West Stand without a clear reason and put me into an inferior one, now i can't even bring a bag to the game, can't say i'm finding attending games particularly enjoyable at the moment regardless of the results.
You have my sympathies. The thing is; if you look at the issue with any degree of rationality, it makes no sense. We get crowds of around 9,000 (I know the figures show higher but come on!) How many of those are carrying a rucksack, briefcase or suitcase!! It takes 15 seconds for a 'search'. How hard is that.
I think people are looking for something that is not there, I am very critical of the club owners & the way they treat us but in the world we live in today a simple security check is not sinister in fact we should welcome it , there is not one of us who would board a plane if there were no security bag checks , everyone is happy with that so when we have a potential target of 12000 people in one spot then security should be paramount & any minor inconvenience should be taken with a pinch of salt & be thankful that the club is following instructions .
No one’s fingering my pork pies and I’m not putting them in a clear plastic bag because it makes them soggy
This is so frustrating. I usually have a backpack with me as I travel to the games from visiting family etc. I live 90 minutes away by train... what am I meant to do with my stuff?
If that is correct then take a shoulder bag or a duffle bag, ( love the old duffle bag, havn"t seen one for years ) but seriously, how much stuff do you need to take for a 90 minute football match ?
Where would you put a bag that's bigger than 35cm x 20cm x 20cm, anyway? Leaving them in the walkways is a trip hazard...
"you get minimum wage and get to look into a bag potentially containing a bomb", our stewards should get medals for bravery
A duffle bag!! How old do you think I am! I was referring to away games/fans or those Reds fans that come from afar. You tend to take quite a bit of stub, particularly if, as per my example, you're on the train.
I think you've hit the nail on the head. If there's a bomb in someone's bag poking and prodding it isn't going to help unless you're stood near the West Stand.
Voice on the tannoy... "If any supporters are carrying bombs, please alert your nearest steward, they will then proceed to show you to your upgraded seating in the West Stand, Grace Hung will hand you a complimentary scarf as you enter. Thank you".
