I wasn't particularly having a go at you NYR. But there's one or two trying to make the equivocation that Rafiq is not a nice bloke so all the racist stuff from YCCC is ok. It's just not on.
His text comments were pretty appalling to be honest. And being 19 is no excuse. He should have known better.
Got to be honest it does infer that he was happy to make comments about other races to his own mates. But I’m still reserving judgement until for want of another expression ‘ all votes are in’
Well it's starting to look very, very unlikely that he was lying as players come out of the woodwork to aplogise or back up his narrative.
Fair enough and I agree it looks bad ( for the game in general) I just want to see when everybody has had their final say
When you're working in an environment that normalises racism it's only natural that your own boundaries become skewed. Especially at 19. I'm pretty sure we all did things when we were young we regret now, and hopefully we've gotten up to the extent that we've learnt from our shoddy behaviour.
Add blackface to the long list of reasons England are better off without Hales in the team. I thought the story about his dog was bad enough. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...ex-Hales-caught-camera-wearing-BLACKFACE.html
It does seem harsh for Vaughan to be losing jobs over something that hasn't been proven he's said. He hasn't been tried for what he's supposedly said and it is suppose to be innocent until proven guilty. He's getting more stick for what he may or may not have said than Rafiq got for his anti semitic comments that were proven.
Employment contracts and decisions aren't subject to the criminal burden of proof. If you catch someone nicking from the till you don't have to get the police to prosecute them before you sack them. There's no need to prove it beyond all reasonable doubt, and there are 3 people who all independently say he said it anyway.
He hasn't necessarily lost them. He's been stood down, given that the matters are still being looked into. And Dan Walker put some separate dodgy tweets to him as well. Seems the man has plenty of 'attitude'.
Also Rafiq acknowledged his mistakes, Vaughan is just trying to ******** his way out of them by doubling down on his initial lie.
Three players confirm he said it , he sidetracks the ‘are you saying they are lying ‘ question, he admits there have been conversations in the dressing room he would call out now but won’t say what conversations . I don’t really know why you are defending him . If like Bumble he had apologised straight out instead of trying to tough it out he might still have a job
There was also one who said he heard nothing who also said good things about his days at Yorkshire, are we to disregard that??
But on the other hand, Yorkshire CCC settled with Azeem without going to the tribunal, which would seem to indicate that they felt there was something to atone for.
The BBC have sacked him to protect themselves, that is so obvious in this politically correct society, innocent until proved guilty no longer The BBC sacked him to protect themselves, can’t you see that?.....it is what goes off in the politically correct society we live in....no longer innocent before proven guilty I am afraid......
