On 12 squadron we were issued with balaclavas to which one was obliged to fix our cap badge. These were still being worn unto May when the SWO twigged that a lot of long haired 12 squadron louts were “covering up”
Never saw any of those, but we were just HQ RAFG softies from the Big House so no need for that kind of protection
Sometimes, or the Dutch bar or the Sgts Mess. Not a big drinker except for very rare times during that tour. Disgraced myself once at a house cellar party but managed to avoid the alcoholics club in the Mess. With big bottles of Becks costing pennies it was tricky at times though
It work by scientists having all their bases covered ie, if world temperature rises as predicted they can say told you so but if it does the opposite they can say “see, we told you so” lol
I understand science is a marvellous thing. As for myself, I like to think I am fairly intelligent, though I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to science. But it feels that some people will listen to one scientist (or a handful) and their research turns into 'the science' and then we are all expected to follow 'the science' because 'science is always right', but really it's a theory. Some of it is right, some of it remains a theory. Some people will genuinely read statements like that and think well, science says so, so why even think of an alternative, why even argue against the point that global warming is really taking off and we are heading for another ice age? To me, that seems bonkers. In my mind, it's like putting bread in a hot furnace and expecting it to freeze. What am I missing?
The Atlantic conveyor takes warmer water to Western Europe which keeps it a few degrees warmer. The climate scientists think melting in Greenland is affecting this flow of water which could lead to significant cooling in Western Europe.
So the ice melting away and disintegrating into the warmer water will in turn make it cooler and hence the overall cooling occurs?
