People blaiming each other for a virus spreading is ridiculous. It really is just part of nature. I understand the need for attempts at mitigation but trying to stop it completely is just aspiring to the unfeasible.

Tell you what, that's not the half of it. If you were to go and the runes don't look good once you're out there, the fekkers might put everywhere in the red zone. Then you're 4.5K up the swanee for the Premier (Quarantine) Inn on return. And you won't even get the meal deal!

the worry for me is ( and I cover most of Yorkshire and the North East for work) is that loads of people have abandoned masks AND social distancing, so masks would at least be a bit of an improvement.

People are going spend time together, that's just human nature. I wouldnt waste energy worrying about it.

Clever of WHO to name the variant as the anagram of moronic. They are trolling us with that name.

If you need to do the 2 supermarket thing then I think it's in everyone's interest for you to say you're exempt and just not wear one. Better for you, and I'm sure that visiting one place unmasked must be better in terms of virus spread than visiting 2 places masked.

This should have been the question being asked yesterday at the press conference. Instead every single one just basically asked the same question, which was why not more restrictions?

Because if you ask questions outside the perceived wisdom then your classed as an " anti vaxer " . The same as if you voted Brexit your a " racist " ; Against the Iraq war then your a " dictator lover " ; Voted Corbyn then your an " anti- Semite " the list goes on . I'm seeing the same narrative , just different subject matters .

Nobody is claiming to be virologist. I mean if you take that viewpoint nobody should have a opinion on anything they don't have a qualification in.
Pointing out that wearing masks in shops and nowhere else alongside no other restrictions is pointless and won't slow down the spread in any meaningful way, does not make me virologist or make me think I know better than one. I very much doubt a virologist would disagree with that opinion.

Did they invent a time machine, go back and change the names of the letters in the Greek alphabet? That would be very clever.

If one of the letters of the Greek alphabet was called Biden or Trump or Johnson etc. I expect they'd have skipped that as well. I don't think it's specifically China.

Like you say, it's early days for assessing how lethal it is. South Africa have a very young population, only 5% are over the age of 65.
