And not immediately. It makes no sense unless of course Boris and co have an agreement with the omnicron variant that it doesn't try to spread until then. If youre bringing in measures to stop the spread of disease you bring them in without delay or what's the point. Get ready for full lockdown sometime after he's managed to scrape through Christmas without one to save face after he and his cabinet have spent the last few months trying to pretend they've beaten covid.

Because if you bring them in straight away you'll have chaos with people who genuinely didn't know getting into arguments at shops. You'll have police fining people who don't know and can't reasonably be expected to know instantly.

To give an analogy/example. Imagine if Boris sat at home now and thought hmmm I'll make it the law that anyone who walks into a shop without wearing a green jumper gets £250 fine, goes on the BBC and announces it right now and brings it into force immediately. Would it be right to start find people right this second?

Giving a couple of days allows people to spread the message and gives people time to hear about and understand it whether that's from several news bulletins, the Monday morning newspapers or even just in the workplace. It just makes sense from a logistical point of view.

I didn't see the announcement but it would have made sense to strongly advise people to begin wearing them straight away as well as making it law from Tuesday.

Theyve been advising people to continue wearing a mask in crowded places since it stopped being a legal requirement sadly 90% of the population couldn't be arsed so sorry but strongly advising the selfish doesn't work.

I like how you ignored the rest of my post and focused on one sentence. Did you understand/agree/disagree with everything else I said?

I suspect it’s purely to give shops and people a couple of days. Signage, supplies, anti-maskers wanted to have a ding dong etc.

You have to give time for all the people who said they threw theirs in the bin to buy one again and give shops etc. time to dig their signage back out/possibly change staffing rotas to have people on the door enforcing it.

Or a delay could give their mates a chance to get some cheap masks knocked out sharpish and corner the market to make yet another killing at our expense.

Someone has posted on FB saying mandatory mask wearing by law had expired, if true is it so they can legislate Monday?

The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Wearing of Face Coverings in a Relevant Place) (England) Regulations 2020 came into force on 24th July 2020 and expired one year later. They were passed by Parliament, and not by a ministerial secondary legislation, so they have to be reinstated in Parliament tomorrow and the earliest they could therefore come into force would be Tuesday.

That's what you wanted to say wasn't it? That people are selfish and you are frustrated that people don't were masks.
I keep making the same point, blaming other people for the spread of a virus is just silly.
We are all frustrated by the last 18 months, some blame those who want restrictions and others blame those who don't. I've been as guilty as anyone but the reality is it really isn't anyone fault that a virus spreads, that's been happening between humans since the birth of our species.

How many masks will be worn at Oakwell next week I wonder?
Absolutely pointless targeting shoppers & public transport but nothing else. It’s either all or nothing. And for that reason I’m out.

Well I've been in a Aldi and a local Asda today and majority didn't have them on so I would expect little change at oakwell.

Some shops will need to start stocking masks again as well. Tesco's recorded in-store message has been to continue wearing a mask to be on the safe side, yet they stopped selling them...or at least they did at Wath. Lidl likewise. Other supermarkets such as Asda, Aldi and the Co-op have still had some though.

I love how they have no decided that Covid is teetotal and doesn’t go in pubs or restaurants…

Reason it’s Tuesday is purely a legislative thing as stated above. Needs to be ratified by HOC.

Just excuses for the selfish who couldn't wait to stop wearing a mask despite the advice to carry on wearing them in crowded spaces. I've continued to wear mine throughout because it's the sensible respectful thing to do.

I thought it was being brought in on Tuesday and ratified on Wednesday after I becomes law (which I believe is what has happened previously?) but I could be wrong

Yes I do think people who dumped the masks at the first chance and started behaving like covid had gone away are selfish and lack respect and care for others I don't deny it. Sadly that's what we've become as a country a selfish I'm alright jack society.
