Seen our goal back and noticed something that wasn't as clear at the time and that's the big role Cauley played in it blocking off the Huddersfield player so he couldn't get in the way of Morris having his shot. Cauley knew what he was doing there. Very clever without it looking like an obstruction to give the ref a chance to blow.
I've a lot of time for Cauley and he's one of my favourite players and definitely an asset. But if we're gonna talk about being fickle, we'll see where his loyalties lie in the summer when he captains us to league 1. I can guarantee the fans will still be here.
Woodrow hasn't been on form for two years. I've made excuses for him about the style of play and the positions he's been asked to play. I like him and he's given his all but to justify getting an automatic selection every week the lad needs to start scoring goals. Putting in the effort isn't enough and if he's as good as some people keep saying we need him to prove it pdq.
To be fair he could have left at least once that I know of he was very close to joining Cardiff and probably been able to get more money than we could pay even though he is our top earner now by some way after he signed a new deal last year. If we do go down the owners will probably look to offload with him been top earner but not sure how much interest he would get possibly one of the promoted league 1 teams could take a gamble or a millwall,Luton,Preston type club on current goalscoring form.
I don't get why everyone is so eager for him to leave. I don't want him to. Then again there were fans who thought excellent miss Mowatt. Maybe Cauley has a point!?
No one wants him to go chances are we will be in league one next season he will fill his boots in that league. But he's the top earner so chances are we will look to offload if we drop and it will be his last year of his contract. Cauley has shown loyalty to bfc over the time he's been here more than many others we have seen credit to him for that.
I agree with most of your post apart from the first 6 words. I think there’s plenty that would be happy to see him leave. I’ll be gutted when he does.
I personally couldn’t care less if he leaves. Can’t live off seasons gone by. Majority of last season & certainly this, he’s been pants. Sure I wanna see players put a shift in, but he rarely does, is weak as piss, not scoring goals (or not enough anyway) considering he’s supposed to be the main man.
Cauley has been a pleasure to have at the club since 2018. Professional, hard working, never says no to anything and deserved the armband this season for many reasons. He dropped divisions to sign for the club, got injured, then came back to score 19 goals and help us to promotion. He was top scorer the next season as we escaped relegation. He was top scorer again last season as we reached the play-offs. He's played 150 games for the club, scoring slightly better than once every three appearances. And he extended his contract when very few fans expected him to. In fact, he was definitely leaving numerous times according to the rumour mill. I understand fans judging his performances. That's normal. And I'm sure Cauley wishes he'd scored more often over the last year or so. But for some to question his loyalty, commitment and effort, I can't understand that. Whenever he leaves, he'll do so as a modern-day legend and chances are, folk will be waiting a long time for someone to score as frequently as he's done for the club. He's spot on about 'fickle fans'. He didn't refer to all fans. Just those who laud players one day, then dig them out the next. Those who are happy to ride with you in the high moments but want no part of the struggle. He suggested the opinions of coaches, teammates and those people he cares about matter more to him than fickle football fans. If they're going to give him stick, he should be able to reply, when asked about it. Which he was, by Rob Staton. He didn't just blurt it out. He was asked the question. Let's not forget, he also said he was proud to lead this team, that he's loved his time at the club and it's a proud moment to reach 150 appearances. That he believed we'd get out of trouble, that he's enjoying working with the new coach and that he was delighted for Carlton getting his goal. I've not seen many players care more than Cauley. He's a lovely bloke and been a credit to our club. I was with him at 6pm last night as he chatted to young fans after he'd done those press duties. He stopped for photos, for videos and signing shirts etc. The joy on those kids' faces is what it's all about.
I definitely don't want him to leave, providing he starts scoring. If he doesn't start scoring what's the point in him being here?
Cauley is a hero. I can't believe the stick some fans have been giving him. It's ridiculous. He's not in great form but he gives it his all - players should get our support when they do that. He's surely one of our best players of the last 20 years? I honestly never thought another player would score this many for us and stay around for a few years.
So what if he's "one of our best players of the last 20 years"? That doesn't really help us now, does it? I really don't get this obsession with how good players were when we're currently in relegation dog fight.
I don’t get the obsession with a player being accused of not caring, being idle etc, when there is absolutely no evidence to back it up, Fickle indeed
