The BBC (poll) I voted in, had Lewis at 87%. For driver of the day.

That is an excellent post, it may be because I totally agree with you!

The problem ( if it can considered as one) is that F1 forums are now filled by fanboys or people who dislike particular driver, often down to reasons other than the sporting elements. Unlike true F1 fans they usually display a complete lack of knowledge or understanding of the sport. They clutter up forums with conspiracy theories personal assassinations on people they have never met and often cite totally incorrect 'facts' e.g. Hamilton is selfish and never thanks his team ( the polar opposite of the truth). I admit to liking Hamilton simply due to what he has achieved in his career through hard work and talent.

The best fanboys are those who, seriously deluded, post things like, "even I" or "my granny"could win in Hamilton's car. I guarantee an hour on even my F1 SIM (PS4 F1 2021 with Logitech G923 wheel) would dispel that myth. I have had Sims going back to early PC Geoff Crammond F1 days and even without high cockpit temperatures all the racing overalls fireproof stuff and extreme G forces it is nigh on impossible to compete at elite level . Add those elements in and a mere mortal would not last above several laps. The top drivers are absolute supermen and supreme athletes.

The other potential element are the other drivers. Red Bull have 3 other drivers on the gris so you never know what could happen.
    Qualifying will be crucial.

I think that was just a poll for who is the better driver. The driver of the day poll is on the F1 official site.

No way did Max deserve it though, definitely his fanboys voting for him.

We are forgetting that RB may still fall foul of the Q3 wall incident. Yes the gearbox took a hit and appeared OK during the race but the number of stop starts it had to endure may be an issue going into the last race. Karma may determine the outcome if MVs gearbox should fail. If RB bank on MV recovering 5 lost grid places should they opt to replace it (I am pretty sure he could make up places) he would still have the problem of getting past a rejuvenated VB.

Not only that but the finishing positions of the drivers in each race reflect their ability compared to their teammate in the exact same car. i.e Russell consistently outperforming Latifi; Gasly and Tsunoda; Seb and Stroll (mostly); Max and Checo.

I imagine they’ll have another gearbox already used they will deem as a better bet than the one they used in Jeddah - they can change it to one of the others without needing to take a penalty.

If not, and they have to take a new one, as much as I think Verstappen is petulant (and Horner an odious character), it would be a shame as you’d imagine that would give Hamilton a free ride to the championship.

I want Hamilton to win - but in a fair race. This season deserves a proper finish. If Verstappen and red bull win next week fair and square, so be it.

Provided it is fair and square and Verstappen wins on track and not that they both end up out of the points and Verstappen wins on 'count back', given his 1 win advantage is down to the Spa fiasco non race.

So true. Not so different on here. Anyone who attends races, or follows seriously, respects every driver & refers to them by their first name. :)

To be honest I'm not keen on either. I prefer the likes of Alonso and Danny Ric.

I'd say you're right that Verstappen isn't the finished article like Lewis but that is obvious when one is in his early 20s and the other is 36.

Red bull were a little silly with that one for me. Shouldn't have gone back and clarified if that meant behind ocon or Lewis, should have just said yes as they couldn't demote ocon for something he didn't do and the whole world heard them offer him second.

Agree with that. They are all biased and have agendas that they don't even try to hide. I've also noticed a lot of jingoism on them.

To be honest I've never really understood the whole fan thing in F1 I grew up without having a favourite team and I still don't (if I had to choose though I'd say McLaren probably) so I've never really understood how people can treat an F1 team like we do Barnsley.

I admire Mercedes for their smoothness and how the car just seems to glide (which is why they and Lewis are a perfect fit), I admire red bull for their tight packages that they're famous for, McLaren for seemingly always having a lot of character, Haas for not giving up when they've got no chance, Williams for their history etc.

I’ve loved watching this season a a neutral having only gotten back into the sport last year. I’ve just cheered for a tight title race so whoever is behind I support to keep it interesting. I can sit back and watch the drama unfold on Sunday and will be happy whichever way it goes. If I was pushed for a winner I’d go for Max as I do like to see new people win rather than the same each year.

For me Lewis has had a seriously good car for a long time and maybe Valterie's has been more of a development car at times I don't know. Max undoubtedly is a good driver but is still young and can be rash at times but that's what makes the season exciting. To compare the 2 drivers is difficult as they both have different skill sets and different cars underneath them, It'd be interesting to see how they all perform if they race in cars with the same spec.

I fear for Lewis if Sergio Pérez gets into the first corner before Lewis, hell get better traction of the line on the soft tyres. If he does get in front of Lewis his instrution will be to slow him down and give Max time for the extra pit stop. I dont see Lando getting involved too much he'll want to see the head to head battle like everyone else. Fingers crossed Lewis gets out of that fist corner no lower than second and then it'll be down to tactics and pit stops.
