He said he wasn't there and he didn't touch him. The glasses must have done the trick but I know who I believe.
Barton hasn't been found guilty Not the same as saying that he's innocent, kirby could be telling the truth and the judge directed the jury to find Barton not guilty
As we were told by a legal mind ten years ago when my nephew was assaulted and left in a coma ........ "an innoocent person has to move a million miles to prove it; a guilty person only needs to move an inch to get away with it". Justice system seriously flawed to a degree. But until a fairer system comes along ........
I'm confused. So the witness doesn't lie, yet the judge tells the jury to return a not guilty verdict. I don't get the need for a jury then if the judge has that kind of influence over them? Am I missing something obvious? (I probably am )
Prior to the trial I didn't think he'd be found guilty. The 'evidence' that was so often spoken about didn't seem like evidence at all to me. And crucially Daniel hadn't said he saw Barton push him in the back. I thought it likely he did it, but very difficult to prove (if he actually did it). But during the trial an eye witness said they saw the incident, which I wasn't previously aware of, after which I thought he would be found guilty. So I'm surprised by the verdict. But I don't know what else the jury were exposed to in the trial which clearly made them believe he was not guilty.
I don’t think the jury were instructed to find not guilty were they? From what I’ve read they came to the verdict themselves, and quickly.
Thing that surprises me most about all this is that there isn't any video evidence of the actual incident, I mean Whitey has Go-Pros fu cking everywhere!
Whitey came into the pub I was in after the game and we spoke with him. He was still out on the field filming the players when the incident occurred (I believe, it's a long time ago now, apologies to Whitey if I've misremembered). Must add Whitey was very professional and not in any way sensationalist in how he answered a barrage of questions, as he was addressing a group made up entirely of Barnsley fans who were understandably infuriated by what they were hearing had occurred.
