Havent heard that one tommy fury apparently has chest infection and broken rib is what ive heard. Jake paul now having a rematch with tyrone woodly instead.
How do these ‘fights’ even make the news. I genuinely didn’t think anyone was interested in these exhibitions.
Absolutely agree. This isn't sport it's a circus. To quote Stewart Lee, it's like being spoon fed warm diaorrhea.
Doesn't look great for Tommy. Jake Paul had been a WUM to him for ages winding him up about his girlfriend and demanding a clause that if he won Tommy would have to change his name legally to Tommy Fumbles. He's now lost his chance to shut him up.
Then you're incredibly out of touch. Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones (a complete farce) and Mayweather vs. Logan Paul both did 1million+ PPV buys, much higher than most real boxing events in the US. KSI vs. Logan Paul 1.2million+ PPV buys in the UK.
Don't foget to add that 17.5 million people follow Jake Paul on Instagram as well. That's a seriously rediculous number. I really enjoyed the Tyson/Jones exhibition.
Mayweather v McGregor another circus show. Best ever was Rocky Balboa vs Thunderlips in Rocky 3. Now that was an exhibition.
It isn’t the sport I enjoy. It’s all pantomime rubbish. I honestly don’t know how anyone can enjoy it. In my head, it was all teenage girls that tuned in to this sort of stuff. Clearly I’m wrong. suppose it’s similar to comparing soccer aid to a premier league game. I don’t know the exact figures, but I would guess more people would tune in to the soccer aid match, over the Liverpool Man Utd game in this county.
It did........ * Edited - that was globally. But it did do more than AJ's loss to Ruiz in New York in the UK.
It was never going to get anywhere near 1.2m on common sense - that would be 1 in 50 people... As for comparison to Joshua v Ruiz it appears it sold a lot less despite being half the price. 216k buys for the KSI fight, 403k for Joshua. So roughly a quarter of the income of what was expected to be a dead rubber fight for Joshua
I know you're joking JT but it made me think,,, what if there was a bout between somebody that lots of people disliked, Priti Patel for instance and Tyson Fury, a world champion boxer. That'd put PPV figures up because the people would tune in to watch a death or serious maiming. The point I'm trying to make is, there could be a case made for modern technology being held responsible for the human race retreating into Roman style amphitheatre barbarity. Gladiator v slave, slave v lion. PS. I'm sure Patel wouldn't beat Fury up too badly if the fight took place.
Never believe what Ben Mansford/Eddie Hearn say to the media is the lesson from this one. "The first fight did 1.2m pay-per-view buys globally. This was much, much bigger this time around, "It's the biggest pay-per-view in the UK of the year so far. That includes the first Joshua-Ruiz Jr fight from America. This fight was cheaper, was half the price of that.
