Folk at the club graft, no doubt. But there must be a hundred professional printing services within a 50 miles radius of Oakwell who could knock the vouchers out with a fortnights lead.
Bit long winded mate I totally agree. The vouchers that they were looking at introducing it was said. As I saw it, I got the impression they were going to add extra stuff when they looked at other opportunities. I'm not going to guess what that included. But I imagine typical vouchers you could get via other means. But it's a long time coming.
I love the West Stand, always have. I joke about the closure situation, but do feel this is slow steps towards its permanent closure, demolition & hopefully rebuilt in a modern version of itself. Where it will go back to being the most desirable, posh bit of Oakwell. Eaststanders will admire it for a season, then gravitate across the pitch. So book early.!! I’ve never felt in any kind of danger, but the wooden content is a worry, with catering facilities underneath. I was trained in H&S & disaster management, pertaining to historic houses & large, major museums. I have often twigged a few things at football grounds, (Hilsborough, being a classic, even now)- but would bow to Beth’s greater insight at Oakwell. Particularly as my training was collection care, not crowd management.. When I get over my sulk, I’ll be sitting in the West again, on me tod as usual. But I do think the old girl’s days are numbered, just wish people with power had a definite plan & were more honest..
Agree, once they've decided what they'll include. (It should have been sorted by now.) It should be an easy process. But will probably be paperless unless requested. I'd have thought.
This is what I don’t understand. It doesn’t take this long to get anything printed if you outsource, never mind a book of vouchers.
This is good news, particularly for those supporters who have been so badly affected by the closure. It was obviously badly handled, the comms side was dreadful, and it just adds to the catalogue of errors under these owners but let’s just move on from this particular issue - with one caveat. For those who are to sit in the Stand again there just needs to be a short update on what was wrong and what has been done to sort it. Just a bit of assurance if you like.
Well wasn't it April we had to renew by for the early bird so it's about eight months to get a printer working to print off some vouchers to post out. It's not like we are waiting for bespoke jewerly.
Not being far fetched means within reasonable bounds of possibility. Believable, even if not an actual eventuality. E.g. Woodrow playing 90 mins without a shot on target. I don't know if this happened Saturday but it's not far fetched. Their style is to aggresively prioritise an agenda of capital gains without worrying too much about what stakeholder feathers that may ruffle. -Going back on the original purchase agreement with the Crynes. -The installment of £750k yet to be explained despite a claim not to have taken a penny out of the club. -Actively enquiring about playing away from Oakwell which would be in no ones interests but their own. Those are the provable ones.
The p*ss poor treatment of West Standers has annoyed me and looking at an empty (mostly) West Stand has been depressing and I should therefore be happy about it reopening. But the awful communication remains front of mind. Imo it was deliberately opaque when it was closed and this announcement is the same. A vague reference to work being done - but no clarity and no real explanation of what the problem was and how it's been resolved. I'm more convinced than ever that the initial decision was a poor one and/or opportunistic. They are hoping that we'll just be happy it's open and accept the statement at face value. It's another awful statement that further feeds my distrust of any communications from this CEO.
Has the dangerous wall been fixed? Is the disabled person going to cross their legs or have facilities been introduced?
I think the club deserve a lot of praise here. The structure was deemed to be unsafe and yet, in a period when I’ve found getting a builder to do my extension nigh on impossible, the West Stand will be safe again in just over a month’s time. You can say what you want about these owners but they get things done.
I said this at the time, when I asked how come people were happy to call the CEO etc a liar etc but not one person was willing to call either Beth or the Comms guy(?) who answered questions on the subject.
Yes ive seen workmen there non stop..... oh wait come to think of it i havent... total shambles very poorly handled.
