    What on earth are they thinking of leaving Broad out?! I can understand the Anderson resting because he’s got a niggle and Adelaide is far more suited to him, but Broad should be an absolute shoe in for a game at the Gabba. I am genuinely baffled by that selection.

    I think it could go down as a defining decision of Root’s captaincy.

    The less said about the batting the better, it’s been shambolic for years now and shows no sign of improving. The sad thing is I think this is probably the best top 6 we’ve got.

    What do they say in Australia, bat first and bat big. Bangladesh and Zimbabwe would probably put up more of a fight and manage a bigger total than this pathetic England team. Was it Root or Silverwood"s decision to leave Broad out?
