Woakes and Robinson have started strongly. It's a shame how much is against us. We collapse in overcast conditions and they bat in glorious sunshine. Being without our three main fast bowlers. Half the team have never played a test match in Australia so we lack experience. We are even suffering with a severe lack of Barmy Army because of border controls.
Edge wide of slip. Wicket off a no ball. Edge short of slip. Time for bed, there’s no getting these jammy Aussies out
It's carnage against Leach. Oh and Steve Smith hasn't made it to the middle yet! If England weren't so pathetic yesterday then they'd be batting in the sunshine today!
OMFG, Burns has just dropped Warner at slip in the first over after lunch. You absolute muppet, can't bat and can't ******* field. We'd be better off if Burns played no further part in this match. As if it isn't hard enough already, Warner can't believe his luck. The Aussies are laughing at us.
Can’t believe I got up early to watch this shambles. Just goes from bad to worse. And as for BT Sports coverage I have no words. Horribly amateurish and no highlights’ yesterday evening when I got in from work. I shall be exercising my right to cancel in the ‘cooling off period’. So bad I would go as far to say I can’t get it out of my mind.
A few things to consider at the toss. A green strip. Overhead conditions. Weather forecast and should I play my best attack. Mind you, I blame Nasser, it'll be a long time till an England skipper wins the toss and elects to field at the Gabba again...
Cummins would have made same decision and stated it was a fifty fifty decision. As you say, Nasser’s choice was terrible as there’d been no rain for months and it resulted in Aus getting nearly 400 on first day.
Kylie Minogue, Dame Edna, Steve Irwin, Rolf Harris, Crocodile Dundee, Jason Donovan, her off Cell Block H, you boys are giving us one hell of a beating!
Ashes going pretty much as I expected. In fact, compared to some of our batting efforts over the last few years, 140ish was over our par against one of the better than average bowling attacks. Australia are pretty much par score. The fundamentals remain. We can't bat and we have very little character and grit to battle out of tough situations. If Root fails, they all fail.
If we're going to persist with this devil may care batting attitude the top order needs replacing with stroke players like Hales and Vince. I'd rather have ten batters getting pretty 30's or 40's and get to a par score than trying to rely on Root.
Hales is done. Vince will probably get swapped in and out now and then when the failures get too prolonged. It smacks very much of the late 80's early 90s. The same names failing repatedly until eventually they get a 30-40 on a flat deck with a dead ball and it saves them for a few more games.
