Well it would be funny just because how long he would last I presume the shortest reign by any manager ever. If he started at 9 AM he would have told them to F*** O** by 9.05 AM
I think Schopp inherited an incredibly difficult job, given all of the upheaval in the summer, but his ineptitude has made Poya's job virtually impossible. We've conceded goals to individual mistakes, or players switching off, but Schopp set us up in a way that was just easy to create chances against regardless of errors or concentration, and did nothing in his three months to resolve the issue of players' fitness. I think if Poya had taken over in the summer, or even if we'd given the job to Laumann in the summer, we'd still be in a chance of staying up now.
Why are the owners destroying him? They have gave him the biggest opportunity of his career because being a Championship boss is far bigger than anything he's ever done. He will be on more money than he's ever been on and if he gets sacked it won't damage him for future opportunities because of the position we were already in when we took over. I don't get the thinking that when someone does well like Stendel or Val it's because they are good head coaches. But if someone does bad like Schopp or Poya it's because the owners are out to get them. It seems the owners cannot get credit for head coach appointments regardless of how well they turn out. It reminds me of life as a Wrestling fan. If a storyline is entertaining it's because the wrestlers involved have made it entertaining. If it's a rubbish storyline it's because creative have been useless at writing anything good.
i don't think Colin or any other English manager could have done any better than Poya at the moment. He's took over at a terrible time but he's shown courage by taking on the challenge head on.I know its a results business but considering our lack of style, confidence and lack of fitness (compared to last season) its obvious to some people that there's been steady improvement. The one thing he hasn't got is time. From what I've seen so far in such a short time whether we stay up or go down I'd like to see him build our team up again starting with solid foundations and take it from there.Good luck Poya.
Maybe SFO has insider knowledge - poor Obi been struggling for game time since Under11s by sounds of it.
There is a grey area though. Stendel for example - great in League 1, the board don't back him in Champ and draft in a load of unknown 19 year olds. Utter failure. Bring Struber in, back him and buy the experience he desires (Solly, Ritzmaier etc). Strange how they've acted when you look back, inconsistent to say the least. As for the OP, just don't mention Muzza
Not one bit.. he's a well paid young man who came here with his eyes wide open to further his own career. I wish him well while he is here because his short term future and ours are totally entwined.. if he does well so do we..
Playing senior professional football from the age of 11 has obviously taken its toll , no wonder he is never fit !
In fairness Stendel fetched in more players who he wanted then any recent coach, other factors came in to play there. From my point of view all the manergerial appointments come knowing how the club operate.I know this to be a fact because everyone of them mention and praise it when they get the gig.The only recent coach who never moaned was Val.He introduced a method that worked,he rolled up his sleeves and got on with it.When he asked for a couple of alternative strikers the club delivered.
We're suffering the hangover from missing out on promotion. Once Schopp couldn't bring in his own backroom team that deal should have been benched. We needed leadership bringing in over the summer. It was madness allowing Chaplin and Sollbauer leave. Val and Mowatt plus those two were huge characters in the club. Now the whole club is sulking from top to bottom and no one wants to take responsibility. Last thing I'd do now is sack another manager. They shouldn't have sacked Schopp in the end even though he was the wrong choice. I've said it before it's time to take our medicine. If we sign players in January it would be absolute madness. We're down.
I think some of Stendel's choices must have been denied though with him constantly berating the lack of experience in the team? I don't doubt they weren't all his choice, how could they be when he essentially said he'd been left with a youth team..
I get what you say with regards to signings but surely we need to bring at least one combative midfielder in, even just with a view to tackling L1 next season? We also need to bring back Kane if we're allowed to. There needs to be some kind of momentum built up between January and May to offer some hope for next season and to shift season tickets. If we just leave things as they are I can't see more than 5k renewing if I'm honest.
Fair point but if we go down fighting and the early season proves too much for him to catch up I'd like to see him have a crack at getting us back up.Obviously if we go down with a whimper questions would have to be asked.
I thought watching the highlights the players gave me what I want from a match barring the result. If their heads don't go down and they embrace where the season is taking them we'll still go down but at least there will be decent showings before the curtain comes down.
Depends on style of play etc so far he looks to set up very negative for me when draws are no good and we need goals and wins. 2 goals in 4 games , 0 wins. Only ealry days granted but like sais needs assessing at end of season.
They didn't look negative on Saturday. On another day we could have won that with the chances created. I can't understand why he's started picking Oduor up front though. That is quite alarming.
The one thing that seemed to be missing, which is the most disappointing thing, is a bit of fight. They should've been defending that free kick as if their lives depended on it, but it was just all too easy. Can say the same about the efforts of Brittain, Palmer and Styles for the first goal as well. We're still the team that everybody wants to play sadly. Can only see us getting a win when opponents are complacent. We'll do well to stay within 4 of West Brom next week.
