Sorry to digress from the Barnard goal …..
We lost at Ipswich early in 99/2000 6-1 and then obviously lost at Wembley

Cant remember too many. Certainly the Mowatt one. But I bloody well remember the direct throw in. into the net. For Huddersfield. Given by Jarnail (Gerrupta) Singh.

George Hamstead definitely scored direct from a corner in the 67-68 promotion season. Think it was an away game but can’t remember which without looking it up. Think this was covered in a thread a few months ago.

Kyle Reid away at Southend, 06/07, a 3-1 win for the reds.

More chance of Dave Benson Phillips scoring.

Christ. We score more direct from corners than we do now from open play.

I remember Hamstead doing it away at the Shay (Halifax). The goalie told the full back to leave it and then let it slip passed him. Never laughed as much in my life.

Edit: The full back was Andy Burgin I believe.

Gavin Smith in the 1950s against Millwall. No one was more surprised than him!!

Brian Howard against Ipswich 2008. One third of his hat trick in a 4-1 win. Tuesday night game just before the FA Cup semi-final.....

No as in my earlier post, one third of Howard's hat trick. Unless we've stepped through a warp in space into an alternative universe of course.

It's down as a David Wright own goal wherever I've looked.

I've not looked, I'm just relying on my memory. I don't recall any suggestion at the time either on the night or in reports in the papers etc, that Howard hadn't scored a hat trick. He must be peed off....
