I agree that the schedules need to be sorted out, I think the volume of white ball cricket is too easily used as an excuse for poor batting. White ball cricket dominates schedules around the world, we're just awful at batting. Not helped by poor coaching.
Top players don't need to practice forward defensives. Just treat net sessions like match situations. Steve Smith has the best net technique. He works the ball into different areas from the same delivery. Root only works at small things. Every batsman is different but the fundamentals remain the same.
Better batsmen called Burns. Mr Burns (Simpsons) Gordon Burns (Krypton Factor) Kenny Burns Rabbie Burns Tracy Burns (Phoenix Nights) Chinese Burns
I was referring to those making their way in the games rather than current top (ahem) professionals. Agree that those at the top generally hone specific areas. I remember an interview with Root, who said when he's struggling for form he just works on his three best shots over and over again for hours. He doesn't just face bowlers in the nets.
Thats the thing. He is under no real pressure for his place as we only took two openers. Only other option would be go one day mode and put Bairstow in.
Roy and Bairstow. We're 2 down in the first 10 overs anyway - may as well try and score 60 odd instead of 15.
