You aren't stating any facts though.

These are photographs showing the announcement of and work commencing on ogc nice's new training facilities.

I'll give you three guesses who DIDN'T own nice at the time...

They can afford to put us in admin and walk if they want as things stand. How is that a good thing? That's being pretty cocksure we'll be bought by someone.

If they do that they lose millions upon millions. Why would businessmen choose to do that when the sale of the club's name and league share would be worth money

That's obviously not true seeing as we've changed hands multiple times in that period and any approach is often done so in confidence.

Cryne was a reluctant custodian though. Doyle only took it on because he was mayor. Maybe C.S Lewis's Narnian Consortium too.

He was so reluctant he approached a couple of times.

That we're not attractive for acquisition is just a ridiculous notion.

I don't think we're as unattractive as some are making out, however if there were 2 championship clubs for sale and we were one of them, I'd definitely buy the other one!

I don't see why we're less attractive than say Wigan, or Charlton or Blackpool or Birmingham or Luton or......

If someone wants to buy a football club, they have a decent base to build from at BFC. A very low rent, a decent existing capacity, a group willing to sell the land and buildings at I suspect a level likely to be pretty modest, a decent level of support and at present, not up to its neck in debt.

I'll agree to disagree. My opinion might be tainted somewhat by events on the pitch. Apologies.

I don't know about the others, but Wigan Athletic own their own stadium, and rent it out to the Rugby League team. Their new owners bought the stadium and training ground for £3m, with the club essentially thrown in as a free extra.

Their fanbase will be smaller than ours, though not by a great deal, but will probably get extra revenue from the stadium with naming rights, rent and any other events that are held there on non-matchdays.

I don't think our last two sets of owners appreciate/d how floating some of our support is. There's more to it than blind love or allegiance. A lot of our gate depends on results on the pitch. We're a hard lot to please.

There must have been a deal to the existing creditors in addition. And during administration, they shipped out a lot of players to keep the club going, so you wouldn't expect squad value to play any great consideration in the transaction.

But again, that we're completely unattractive for takeover is a nonsense. Any stumbling block would simply be the greed of our incumbents.

The £3m price for the club, stadium and training ground was to cover the payments to creditors.

Not saying we're completely unattractive for a takeover, but given the situation with the ground and size of our fanbase, I can't see many wanting to buy the club for an amount that would allow PMG to break even, so we're stuck with them.

I think if you just looked at potential of a club, I would think Charlton and Birmingham would be more attractive.
Without taking into account of buildings debt etc

Wigan are synonymous with winning though. Success in Rugby League. League Cup Final appearance, Premier League Football in recent history and an F.A Cup final win to boot. I'm not surprised they survived and are prospering again. An upwardly mobile club.

Barnsley F.C has meandered on for years. (As I've said before I don't class promotion from League 1 as success.) One season of winning Championship football since 2000 isn't a great return. It isn't attractive. The league results don't offer a perspective buyer who doesn't know our full history any grounds for optimism. We aren't a sleeping giant down it's luck. We're a nothing as things stand.
