Apologies to any fans, but I can’t stand the ******* slag.. & yet another reason.. https://guitar.com/news/music-news/...uidPxivtkDhUH1lpnSgBLD4d0-SV50YGKI6NiDAsTpm5E
I wonder how he as a white, entitled multimillionaire gets through the day with such levels of oppression.
Yes & he railed against the ‘Rock Against Racism’ campaign. I think the Clash tore him a new arse over that.. Grrr..
I’ve never been keen. & that just takes the piss. Hate is a strong word, but taking Pete Townsend along, when stealing Patti Boyd, just in case George kicked off? Grrr.. Layla and a few Yardbirds riffs, the rest just bores me..
Morrissey-level bellend. also an anti-vaxxer. also has guitars called 'blackie' and 'brownie' (yes I do know the guitars are black and brown in colour)
Stole the blues from black people, got rich on their music & a racist to boot. Of course the ****** can play, but give me John Lee Hooker, any day..
I call 6 Pinocchios on your racism call, Eric has had several Black musicians in his bands over the years, not because of race but because they’re good, unlike some of the forced tokenism going on these days
Seriously, the guys a racist. Check out his on-stage rant in the 70s. Reading that made me want to pull his throat out of his arse.
Never heard about Clapton being a racist before, so I just went off and looked it up. To say I'm disappointed understated it. Clapton, however, was much more blunt. "Stop Britain from becoming a black colony," he said. "Get the foreigners out. Get the wogs out. Get the coons out. Keep Britain white. I used to be into dope, now I’m into racism. It’s much heavier, man. ******* wogs, man. ******* Saudis taking over London. ******* wogs. Britain is becoming overcrowded, and Enoch will stop it and send them all back. The black wogs and coons and Arabs and ******* Jamaicans and ******* … don’t belong here, we don’t want them here. This is England, this is a white country, we don’t want any black wogs and coons living here. We need to make clear to them they are not welcome. England is for white people, man. We are a white country. I don’t want ******* wogs living next to me with their standards. This is Great Britain, a white country. What is happening to us, for ****’s sake?” Read More: When Eric Clapton's Bigoted 1976 Rant Sparked Rock Against Racism | https://ultimateclassicrock.com/eri...acism/?utm_source=tsmclip&utm_medium=referral
So… just to be clear. Are you saying he didn’t make the statement reported here and heavily reported at the time? Or are you saying that you don’t believe that statement to be racist?
Well googled. How many non white footballers have Millwall had on their books, over the years? Does that change their reputation? Can you name that bloke on bass? I can.. Clapton was & evidently, still is, a tool of the highest order. & an irresponsible, crap parent. It’s little surprise that you try to defend him. We all know to which mast, your colours are nailed.
So many great guitarists over the years, he's one of them. However the list constantly gets longer and wouldn't even make my top 50. Clapton had a very troubled upbringing, no excuse for his previous racist tendencies. He really isn't a nice person. The life in 12 bars documentary merely skirted over his racist outbursts. They backhandedly blamed it all on his mental state and substance abuse. Many black artists won't work with him, that was omitted from documentary. Slow hand, is also slow on keeping with the times it appears.
