May as well come home now - they are going to go down 5-0 unless there is a game called off due to adverse weather - shameful display and completely out of their depth - learned nothing from the first test - a total embarrassment
18 months of preparation for this Ashes tour. The first 10 seconds of the first test summed it up perfectly.
The England Lions would put up more of a fight than than these bunch of pathetic losers. Foakes for Butler in the next test match. Not sure what else we can do with the rest of the batting line up. Hate to say it, but I think it may be time for Jimmy to bow out.
Sadly, they've sent the majority of the lions squad home. There's only Bess, and a few that have BBL contracts still in Australia. Frankly, if Wood cannot play, Mahmood should be playing ahead of Anderson, especially if it's a 5 seamer attack. But then again, Root would only have him bowling bouncers continually anyway.
Silverwood, Root and Giles all have to go for me mate if we lose 4-0 or 5-0. I actually wasn't a massive fan of Bayliss (towards the end of his tenure) because I thought he put too much emphasis on the shorter format of the game and neglected the test team and what was needed to be successful. However, Silverwood just doesn't seem the right fit. Haven't looked at his overall record but it can't be good.
Oh well, at least Root and Malan are doing what they're paid to do! Think they should just have a massive Barby on the beach and nor bother with the Christmas day test!
Just woke up, not surprised by the scorecard, in fact I thought it would be worse. Pope is absolute gash, talented batsman my arse.
And now, just to rub salt in the wound, the decision not to play a spinner is being proven wrong. Lyons is turning it like Warney. It will and would have made no difference to the result however.
You couldn't make this **** up. 18 months of planning they said...So we get on tour and we're winging it People need sacking after this debacle.
So if most of the lions squad have gone home then we're stuck with these numpties for the rest of the series.
