Only players i can see attracting interest based on this season is collins helik and possibly anderson. The owners will cash in if they can.
I’m not sure where our sales would come from. If we do sell the likes of styles, helik, Collins etc, it will be a fraction of what we would have got last season. We’re then looking at replacing our so-called better players, with the usual inexperienced development players. For me, only shred of hope is keeping what we have and adding some quality signings. Some chance of the former, less chance of the latter. I think we’re knackered.
Playing either Halme or Moon and pairing them with Kane in midfield would be better than Gomes and Benson. Palmer provides a bit of bite too, but fades in the second half. Styles isn't the answer in a central role either.
This alone shows how bad our midfield is, that we’re talking about Halme and Moon being our best options, and recalling Herbie Kane.
Wouldn’t surprise me to see Collins joining Val in January Strong rumours that Johnstone will be leaving, Southampton very interested apparently
The owners would cash in i think he is a very good keeper and still very young will have a great career. They have walton who isnt quite as good but means they wont have to spend to replace.
There’s enough fringe players to generate some wiggle room in the budget. Our squad is littered with players who are just ‘ok’. This assumption we have any Crown Jewels to sell after the last 20+ games is admirable, but I don’t see many teams knocking our doors down with behind closed doors football still a ridiculous possibility in January.
A lot of people stating that the midfield is weak. I'm not saying he's the answer, but why does Hondermarck not get a look in anymore these days? When I saw his cameos, he certainly was no worse than what is picked week in and week out, and he certainly got stuck in more,
There are a lot of very strange decisions being made this year that don't add up to me. A complete refusal to deviate from this formation despite the new manager himself saying that he prefers a different formation. Two completely different managers playing oduor on the right side of attack Two managers refusing to play hondermarck despite pretty much every fan believing him to have looked much better than others in games Everyone completely ignoring vita. Everything about Oulare The CEO basically admitting that a long term project manager is more important to the club than survival this season is.
Controversial - wait for flak - but does anyone think that Ismael's style of play ruined our midfield and stopped the development of promising, technically sound midfield players, who would have come on well within a style which kept the ball on the floor and relied on swift, first time passing and one-touch play? Kane looks to be the most obvious example of that. If we develop the passing, but pressing style of Struber, we might not get Ismael's results, but we would have entertaining football and we would be developing young talent to a level to be able to play at a higher level. Okay - now shoot me!!
Halme that's desperate. The guy is a liability in midfield. How about we sign a proper midfielder or two in January only a thought. You never know what might happen after our best transfer window ever like last time!!!!!!
I really don't. I don't see how playing any style of play for half a year, particularly one that elevates the team to the play-offs and sees our players brimming with confidence, can have any long term detrimental effect. Also, the claim we didn't play football under Val is simply not true. We played some very good football, we just did it in the opposition half.
In his post match on sky on Friday he was kinda blaming the players for not going forward enough. He was saying that he understands that they don't want to lose but it's time they took a few risks and be braver.. I thought the same as you.. that the players were following orders. But apparently it not the case.. guess they'll be a big shake up in January, if not then definitely the summer.. I'm liking Poya more I here from him.. clearly intelligent and knows the game. I think it will turn for him and he'll do ok here. Maybe not this season but I'm sure he can turn us around.
I’d settle for the 2 midfielders. I actually think our strikers would score if we could provide any kind of service.
Proof is in the pudding, if the players need to get forward he needs to communicate that to them on the pitch like Val and Stendel would have.
Whatever we change, be it keepers, defenders, midfielders or strikers they need to be able to pass more accurately. Currently there is inaccuracy all across the pitch. Quick, firm, accurate should be the mantra.
Sort the midfield and the rest will come. Goalkeeper still looks decent, defence isn’t bad, strikers need the service from midfield. The issue with Morris against WBA and issue with Woodrow is that the midfield is getting bullied and over run so they are having to come back to help and to defend. When we do get the ball, they are too far back to get in on goal and score
but he also said after the Preston game, that we can't afford to go forward at the expense of defence. he may do well in League 1, but then again I would expect him to. I don't think that's the benchmark for most, rightly or wrongly.
