Wow. based on what. His 230ish games career. (Nearly half with us in 3 yrs) 19yrs, that’s a sweeping analysis.
Lolz. I ought to have put it in speech marks. Some of our fans used to say it at the time for the alliteration. I liked him though and he did win Player of the Year.
Lots liked him. Lots didn’t. Lots liked Souza. Another one with a poor career record. But he was one of the biggest liabilities I’ve ever seen play for Barnsley. Chris lumsden was loved by the young uns cos he interacted with em. But he was poor at best.
He was immense when on loan though. Nothing short of criminal how he played when we signed him. On loan Lumsden would be superb in this side, just like Colace would be. I don’t think there’s many former Championship Reds Midfielders who wouldn’t walk in to this side’s midfield. In terms of those who played a few games.
With respect loko. lumsden shone in one game only. And lived off that fact. ( He played 12 on loan) Another one hit wonder.
Luke Berry Conor Chaplin Marlon Harewood John Macken Brad Potts Kenny Dougall - definitely Sam Togwell Gary Gardner Rory Fallon Ron Futcher Emil Hallfredsson Matty Pearson David Perkins Billy Ronson Joe Williams Ryan Hedges Graham Pugh How long have you got? Sigh..........
With respect right back at you. Weren’t we starting petitions to sign him permanently when his loan spell was coming to an end?
Kin hell loko. Yer avin a laugh. I'm pml. It gets funnier. Trying to raise a petition lol. (Were you In infant school at the time along wi the rest of em.) I'd have signed one to send him back. Some of us obviously have a better eye for talent lol. Bang below average. Imo ie. Lets just say I'm not convinced. Were you the one who he gave his boots to Better on your feet if so lol.
Ok, I may have cheated a bit. Although there's an argument that most of those names have had good spells at certain clubs and struggled elsewhere. So on balance, bang average. Obviously Hammill was terrific in a red shirt, but without it... not so hot. I just want to see us play with wingers again before I kick the bucket. Unlikely, I know...
Wasn’t he playing for us when we went top of the league away at Blackpool? Or was that as a permanent signing not a loan one? Your memory/opinion might be different to mine. But it’s not like I haven’t had conversations with many a Reds fan about amazing loan Lumsden vs. Permanent signing Lumsden.
David Currie Roger Wylde Tony Cunningham Me (I had a trial when I was a kid) John Beresford Carl Tiler Brian Joicey Alan Little Gwyn Thomas
And Brendan O'Connell and Archdeacon well above average imo. As for Eric - one of our very best central defenders imo.....
And I haven’t, ?, Spoken to many who liked him. But many more who thought he was below average shall we say. Believe it or not. I know many folk. All I’ll say at the end is look at his stats. And what I saw, bear those stats out.
OK, I accept that maybe a little harsh. I guess I put him in that category given that he was with us in Div 4 and Div 3?
