Think he wants to play at old Trafford one more time, which he should manage in the summer.

Truly hope you’re right but he’s also had double the amount of ducks and doesn’t seem to have any confidence at the moment.
Unless his successor does remarkable things, he’ll be reconsidered again next summer

Well, the pathetic losers showed a little fight but finally caved in. No good showing some fight when the test match is already lost and there's not as much pressure on. Butler still needs dropping.

To put things into context, Australia had Cummins and Hazelwood missing and still hammered us.

I said before the series it would be 5-0 and nothing I've seen so far has changed my mind. The only thing that will save us is hopefully the weather. Alternatively, as I said a few days ago, this lot should come home now and let the England Lions team play the last three tests as they would show more fight, backbone and discipline.

Regarding Anderson, he may well want to bow out on his own terms next summer. However, if he's playing poorly then he shouldn't be selected. I'm being honest here but he looks finished to me.

Can you give us a quick breakdown on the facts behind your assumption?

He will get a lot of ducks, with the way he sets up. There are too many things that need to be in sync for him to have a chance against decent bowling. But he's shown that when it is, he can get runs. There must be something he can do to simplify things a bit. People say Smith shows you don't have to be orthadox to do well, but as the ball is being bowled, he's still and the bat comes down straight. Not sure either of these things are true for Burns.
I'm not sure any of the Lions batters are any better. Bracey couldn't get a run in the summer.

Harry Brook has stayed on as he has a contract in the Big Bash …. but I’m not suggesting he’s called up

I remember when Sri Lanka revolutionised the 50’over game by absolutely smashing it early. It might not be a bad idea to try something weird like put your shot makers in early with the slower players later or at least mix it up Worth a try

Been terrible in the two knocks I’ve seen bamboozled by a bit of gentle spin both times.

This bowling attack would tear us apart if we tried anything like that.

Just read the Jonathan Agnew column on the BBC.

So it looks like Pope will be given another chance in the Boxing Day test match. And apparently Butler's innings has saved him for now. Burns also gets another go. Nice to know that we reward failure. The Aussies must be pissing themselves.

Goodness knows what we will do with the bowlers. They've pissed Leach about but will probably expect him to come back in and do a job in Melbourne.

Roots certainly got balls, they sent him for a scan to prove it ( bet his box is going to be permanently in place now)
