Oldham have banned one of the directors of their supporters trust (and some other fans) for being critical of their ownership. At least thats how it appears - this letter and the subsequent follow ups are a bit lacking in detail. Not to mention appallingly written. They also appear to be keeping his season ticket money, as he hasn't breached any T&C of the ticket that seems to be not exactly legal. They claim they are banning him from away games, they cant do that, and suggesting they will pass on his details to other clubs - I think any legal experts may have something to say about the legality of that as well. It appears their new CEO learnt his trade under the Oystons I particularly like the fact some have highlighted that Oldhams progression needs halting anyway as they have now progressed to 91st in the football league, from being in the Prem when it was founded, and likely to progress to the conference at the end of the season
I would argue it's the behaviour of the owners that's deliberately causing stress to the fans. I remember going to BP with us both fighting for the play offs with them under Ronnie Moore. Now their crowds are less than half they got in those days and they could be the first Premier League club to drop out of the Football League. It doesn't help them get people watching when two of the biggest clubs in the world are a few miles down the road, but they shouldn't be in this situation.
I think if we're all honest there are far worse owners than ours. Some concerns are legitimate some are agenda based.
Yeah like people thinking Conway reckons Frieser is too old. We've enough to hate the owners for such as west stand and the missing 750k without hating on them because of gossip we have no proof is true.
Not a race to the bottom though is it? owners need to be scrutinised as at the end of the day they are custodians. Different if they set up an entirely new team. Not sure of the ins and outs but seems a daft move by Oldham owners in the PR dept. Seem to remember Sunderland last season wouldn't let away supporters in who had t shirts on protesting against the ownership, think it was Oldham in that instance.
I mean, if we're in the middle, that's no measure of how good our owners, but how bad others are! It's hardly a badge of honour is it?
Oldham weren't allowed their protest t-shirts against Brentford, in the Carabao Cup, earlier this season, either.
I'm confused by the owners more than anything. I don't think they're bleeding the club dry or anything. I know there's an issue with the £750,000. However, they sanctioned a load of transfers in summer 2019. They then sacked Stendel and bought in Struber. In 2020 They bought Sollbauer, Ritzmaier without selling anyone. That summer we didn't sell anyone either. Bringing in Freiser, Brittain that summer then Morris and Dike in January 2021, They bought in Schopp and paid him off. Now they've bought in Asbaghi. Hardly asset strippers?
I agree. Apart from the query over £750k (which is ongoing and isn’t a massive amount) they’ve been quite open where they can, made some good managerial appointments overall and backed us in the transfer market within reason.
The 750k is something I'm struggling to get past. The ground issue is also causing some issues. Which I think we might be able to assess their true abilities more if they had hold of it. But more than one party in that. So it's not all on them. They can do better, but I've yet to see a complete overhauling of the playing staff window after window. We just seem to have that with non playing staff instead now. I'm not one of the "get out of my club" types yet but I do need to see progress and soon, otherwise I'd become even more "meh" than I am now
Its not a race to the bottom Helen but far far worse goes off and has gone off at other clubs. Some of the younger BBS'S might think its a new thing slating the board. It's happened with literally every board since I've been watching the reds.Who can forget Speedie running on the pitch with his "Sack the board "banner.Or those who accused and stated as facts that John Dennis had bought a fleet of new wagons after getting promotion. What about Ridsdale paying himself a million pounds a year and setting his mate on at 600k a year. What about those who cruelly attacked P.Cryne over his ISOS association. The list goes on.If we go down this season ultimately the buck stops with the board but the board isn't Paul Conway theres other people involved but I suppose it's easier to blame one man. You never know if the board get fed up they could sell it to someone like Chanseri who'll put season tickets up over night to pay for his taxi rank.Just think £600 to Watch Sheffield Wednesday.
I wouldnt be paid £600 to watch the Fowls for a season never mind for that out. Must admit though that our pricing is very good especially if you get the early bird. Less good if you get kicked out of your seat after a few games but at least I should have it back for the next home league game - if we are allowed in
