Did the same Andy...I remember we got a Sinclair Programmable calculator...spent about three hours programming it to find out what day of the week Xmas day fell on in 1485 ( for some now inexplicable reason)

Just won an auction on ebay for a Hornby Thomas and Percy trainset. Ideally I'd have liked the Thomas and Bertie clockwork trainset I had but it'll do. Put it away for George.

Don't put it away for too long or he'll no longer be into Thomas!

I'll give it a test run when it come's. I hope it fits on kitchen table. If he takes to it I'll build him a little layout.

A Mechano set was my favourite.

    1. A Subbuteo

    2. A cavalry fort with little cavalry and apaches, from John Britons.

    3. A hard plastic toy jail and a saloon, with cowboys and indians.

I want to go back in time.

My dad worked as a sales engineer and used to work a lot of weekends just to keep us afloat. I used to get a lot of stick at school for not having Nike/Adidas trainers and branded stuff. Just reflecting on it now, I've realised how much some of these things would've cost him at the time, not that I didn't still massively appreciate it then of course.

Me too! I remember getting the big blue wrestling ring, and being over the moon. Then unwrapping "Bear Hug" style Hogan, "Gorilla Press" Ultimate Warrion, Million Doller Man and Rowdy Roddy Piper. I didn't want to open anything else after that, and my mother had to make me stop playing with them so I could open the rest of the prezzies. Great memories...

Dragon was my first computer too. All my mates had Spectrums, Vic20s or Electrons.
I always had to be a bit different and didn’t want to follow the crowd. Probably why I ended up a Reds fan too.

Cant decide between subbuteo...which i later used to save up and buy teams and invent leagues. My action men (with gripping hands) and an ace dice/ footy game called Logacta.

I got a very similar home made number 7 shirt so I could be Mick Butler.

This thread’s triggered some more memories. I remember a game called Rebound, a great one called Sid James’s Derby Day and an Arnold Palmer Golf. My brother had a board game called Wembley, which was an FA Cup knock out board game.

Christmas 1981 at my grandparents house in Grimethorpe, 7 years old, first ever full kit. Wore it pretty much every day from Christmas to New Year, but as I remember I didn't actually kick a ball in anger for weeks as there was significant snow on the ground for weeks. Had the shirt until late 1990s, it got damaged in a house flood. Screenshot_20211222-220247.jpg

That's a lovely photo. You look like a miniature Ian Banks.
And did someone get your Grandad a harmonica for Xmas?
