What would be amusing is if the covid cases reach the players and they all have to isolate. So to get the Sydney test on we have no choice but to use the players already in Australia for the Big Bash and guys like Tymal Mills, Tom Curran, Harry Brook, Jordan Thompson, Alex Hales, Chris Jordan, Reece Topley, James Vince etc put up more of a fight.

I'd prefer we did that even with no covid cases in the playing group. I bet some of the current team don't give a **** anyway and just want to come home. I'm really angry about the lack of fight.

Seriously rip it up.and start again.

Silverwood has to go..out of his depth

Jimmy is 39 and has nothing else to prove.

Broad is 35 and his better days are behind him.

    Malan is 34.

Woakes and Bairstow are both 32.

We need to be looking to the future. Not sticking to the past.

We have no effective spinner. Sorry but Leach and Bess are not test cricket quality.

Openers.who cannot hang around and a middle order that has no backbone .

Buttler/Bairstow should just stick to their one day game. Pick Foakes and stick with him.

Root has scored almost 1200 runs more than the next higest England run scorer. That stat alone should embarrass the rest of the battlng members.

There are some good younger players in England but the ECB and selectors are a bunch of cowards.

'Australia blew us away last night'

England captain Joe Root: "We've been playing in this times for a while and we've almost had to come to terms to be dealing with this sort of environment. All you can do is try and front up to it and concentrate of putting in good performances on the field and credit to Australia, they blew us away last night and have outplayed us in this Test and in the series so far.

"We've got a lot of hard work to do to make sure we come back in the last two games."

Whatever Joe, no one back home believes you've got any chance in the final two test matches. You're getting worse.
Perhaps Australia could find some Sydney local league cricketers to wear the baggy green just to try and make it an even contest :D. Even then I wouldn't trust this England side.

    Tom Haines
    Sam Curran
    Ben Foakes
    Jamie Porter

Would also like to see if the selectors would also consider batsman David Bedingham of Durham and spinner Simon Harmer of Essex who are both Soith African by birth but are eligible to play for England due to length of time residing here

Petersen, Trott, Strauss, Compton, Prior, Roy, Jennings and Curran all born in South Africa. There's probably more that I've missed!

Shame it was on at 2am in the morning on the TV back-water that is BT Sport but Jonathan Trott and Moeen Ali came over brilliantly with their analysis and discussion on what is wrong with the first class game in England and the way the ECB has destroyed it. Add in an article by the excellent Paul Farbrace who said that the ECB has been telling coaches not to coach and you can see why it's imperative that there is a root (npi) and branch clear out of the upper and middle class money grabbing twerps at the ECB asap. Half-a-million-bonus Harrison has to be the first to go and soon.

Farbrace says there are almost no (he quotes only 3) young batsmen with the technique to possibly make it to Test standard coming through due to the lack of emphasis the ECB have placed on coaching. Trott rightly points out that the ECB is the only Board with two 'sloggit' competitions and the only one to relegate the four day game to the ends of the season on poor wickets where dibbly-dobbly veteran swing bowlers can take wickets for fun and batsmen get no experience of playing in near-Test level conditions against a range of pacemen and spinners. NZ, India and Australia, easily the top three Test countries, have all significantly strengthened their four day competitions in recent times.

As the ECB scheduled the (awful and unnecessary imho) Hundred opposite the domestic 50 over game, Trott also says with some authority, that once the current crop of England ODI players start to retire, they will have to be replaced by guys who may never have even played the game at county level. The ECB designed season for someone like Yorkshire's Harry Brook is a few four day games on awful wickets in April, early May and September, T20s in June and early July and Hundred in late July and August. That is never going to produce a new generation of Cooks and Roots.

So, apologies if I go against some of the popular wisdom of blaming individual coaches and captains but for me the poor (and declining further) situation of English Test Cricket is almost exclusively at the door of the greedy ECB.

I don't rate Silverwood but getting rid of him (which we should probably still do) isn't going to give us a bunch of Test standard cricketers suddenly. I don't think Root is as bad as people think as captain but he looks worse given what's around him - it's like Maradona captaining San Marino against the 1970 Brazilians and expecting him to win!

So England got outscored by Marcus Harris and destroyed by Australia's 6th or 7th choice quick fast bowler on debut. Like the rest of the country English cricket really has turned into a bin fire run by idiots.

Even if it's cancelled due to Covid it's been a whitewash! Bet BT are so glad they decided to show it.

Quote from Silverwood about them knowing their best XI.

The bloke is completely out of his depth. They’ve no idea what their best side is and he’s making himself look dafter by the game.
