    I remember the following happening:
    Italy won the Euro's
    Italy won the Euro vision song contest
    There was an Olympics
    Errrrmmm... Daryl Dike's goal against Birmingham?

    What do you remember happening this year? I promise, if I win, I'll split the £50 bar tab with you all

    My problem is the adoption of someone who is not English, because they fit into a middle class narrative and have sporting success. She is the Daily Mail's and the ABC1s golden girl at the moment, because they believe she brings a reflection of success. Ignoring the fact she and her family are economic migrants and the colour of her skin. The hypocrisy is deafening .
    I don't have a problem with immigration ST but this love-in around her is offensive, when we see how other migrants and UK born people are treated.

    Just seemed from the post that a sporting achievement as a woman is nt worth anything, the fact that she's pretty and young is. I'm sure you didn't mean to come across as sexist but when all the men get given their name it does.

    I'd say someone who's lived here since the age of 2 is British. I'd understand what you were on about if she was in her late teens when she arrived.

    Yeah but I think @Kettlewell’s point is that the DM etc would have described her as an immigrant if she had won the lottery and lived on a council estate.

    And TBF I didn’t appreciate what his point on first reading either
