And yet Kane (presumably fit) was sent out on loan after being assessed as not being required. Don’t forget Val also hardly played him and by Kane’s own admission it didn’t work for him under Val. I agree with others Kane is the answer to our current predicament. IMO we need a player who will put his foot in, stand up and win the ball, this should allow the others to play more.
The assumption is our useless owners are trying to bank money when it could be one of many reasons as to why he's staying there.
Can only imagine also that Kane made it clear he doesn’t wish to come back also. Guess he’s enjoying playing in league one as opposed to getting arseholed every week in the Champ. Hope Oxford are paying his full wages.
At Oxford, playing well, enjoying it, challenging at the top of L1. Its simply a business decision. Don't make the mistake of thinking its so he can come back here like the prodigal son in the summer. If we cant afford him now then Kane wont be coming back. Then if Oxford cant afford him, the teams that go up might. Or clubs that are already in the Championship will be looking. Not be too expensive, his wages maybe, but as long as we get our money back plus a tenner i'm sure the board will except it..... Na, not be back here, he's in the shop window.
This is a player signed for over £1m. One of the highest transfer fees paid in the history of the club. Clearly at the time of signing the view was that he had the potential to enhance the team and increase his sale value. Allowing Oxford to pay an amount to buy-out his recall clause suggests, as @DannyWilsonLovechild says, things are in a bad way financially. On the playing side, whether you were a fan of Kane or not, it seems totally nonsensical not to recall a player with some experience to a squad falling terribly short in midfield. If this is a sign of things to come then the appointment of an U23 coach looks like shrewd business.
Quote from Robinson about Kane: Herbie has to play in a certain way and he's going to make mistakes this year, we're going to concede a goal because of the way he plays
Havent heard much inside stuff of late apart from kane was coming back last week now we have accepted a few quid so they can keep him. Woodrow looks like hes off, and heard a few more likely to follow can judge financial state by incomings and outgoings.
I just think Asbaghi seen the scouting reports and doesn't rate Kane. He clearly doesn't rate Hondermarck, Sibbick or Woodrow either. I wouldn't be surprised if a few leave in January to be honest.
We have enough to dislike them about that we know for sure like the 750k and the west stand shutting and to a lesser extent lying with false advertising over the vouchers. We don't know the ins and outs of the Kane situation. It's all just people speculating and assuming the worst (owners taking a fee to line their own pockets). All I am saying is wait and see how it plays out. Let's see if the cash is used next month on a adequate replacement. It might come out that Kane didn't want to come back.
The sad reality is that we need to move players on this window. The market is nowhere near like it was so I’m expecting modest profits in the main with a few losses. We might even see more mutual contract cancellations. Even if we were staying at championship level, we’d need to generate some cash, but pending a likely £7-8m hit with drop of tv revenues and season tickets next year, it’s likely we need quite a few sales and wage reductions to offset the pending losses.
Don’t really want him back next season, reading between the lines he didn’t want to come back to us in January but who would the state we are in?
