I am using my ticket money to pay the admin fee to the Nigerian who sent me an email re substantial inheritance I am entitled to receive. When this lump sum arrives I will buy a season ticket. I think it makes sense to do it this way. I don’t trust the lot that are running the club now.
It's a hard call to make at the end of December, but assuming we do go down and little else changes I wouldn't be surprised to see that kind of drop at all. Apathy is very widespread currently.
Pretty confident I'll renew. It's so easy to get to home games now: live in Wetherby so only 80 mile roundtrip to get to games. Had season tickets up to 2007, when I moved to France: 444 mile round trip to get to home games. Obviously could only do weekend games: used to be a relief to have away games at Southampton, Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Readinv, Swindon etc. I'm a Barnsley supporter
Can’t imagine not supporting them and not watching them and really enjoyed watching us in league one where for once we were the BiG team. Feel despondent at the moment but won’t stop me supporting the team I love, for me, a football club is for life, through thick and thin, for better and for worse. That’s just how I feel, don’t blame people for feeling how they feel though.
The bit that's (somehow) not posted is that I lived in Southapmton from 1991 onwards and moved to France in 2007.
Will wait until December. If we are doing ok, might get a half season ticket. Not being fickle, fed up of buying a season ticket on false pretences and really think our owners need a wake up call about what we think of them.
Unfortunately I don't live close enough for a season ticket, but I've put a lot more money than one costs into the club over the last few seasons. If you factor in the cost to watch via a VPN and employing people to cover the bar, it essentially costs me the best part of £100 to watch a game. I've done it for years despite that but haven't bothered for most matches over the past couple of months because the whole thing just makes me too sad. I know I'm only following from a distance, but I can feel myself getting less and less interested. Following the events and announcements of the summer it feels obvious that the owners have no ambition to succeed, so why should I fund whatever it is that they're really pursuing?
I put ‘undecided’. Right now it’s a ‘no’. But I said I wouldn’t renew when Morias got us relegated and we did in the end. Plus if the boy wants one, we’ll probably do it. We both hate the 90 minutes of football at the minute but we have a laugh. It’s “our thing”. We’ll often go for lunch somewhere or whatever and make a day of it. We still enjoyed our road trip to Blackburn despite the absolute turd served up on the pitch.
Definitely a different calculation if it's a day out. I've never had a bad day at Oakwell with my dad, and we only go occasionally and have seen some absolute shockers! I think the last one we both made was the Crawley game where Leroy Lita was unveiled.
Yes , as it doesn't make any sense not too. If you attend only 50 percent of hime games chances are you're gonna have spent more on the club. So only really cutting your nose to spite your own face really.
Exactly this. Sometimes we’ll meet up with some friends who go the games before or after for a couple of drinks or food. Supporting the reds is part of a wider social thing which is always good fun whatever is happening on the field.
No. I've been watching us since the start of the 1968/69 season and have had a season ticket since the 1969/70 campaign. That means next year will be 54 years for me. It doesn't mean I'm a better, or more knowledgeable fan than others, just that I'm old! I have no issues with fans who insist they will renew and won't tell them they're wrong for doing so. I would never be condescending or arrogant enough to claim I know better how best to spend their spare time & disposable income than themselves. Also, I'm not trying to convince anyone to change their opinion & intentions. Neither will I accept, or listen to anyone who should try to do that with me.
This post and others like it from passionate commited reds fans who've been that way for decades should deeply concern those in control at Oakwell, sadly I don't think it will even register with them such is the utter contempt they hold the fans of OUR football club in
